Another missing thread?

Well, j.e.j. - thank you for that sad news. As a member of this on-line "community" I am not happy about that - or about anyone else being banned - for what are, after all, words.

When I joined the forum, what came to my mind was a group of people using it to exchage news, money saving/earning tips - I even helped a few folk myself - now when I think of MSE I think of censorship. Nice.

There was a person with Father Hacket as his Avatar. Think they were called Fifer. They always talked sense - a regular poster but I have not seen them for ages.

Fifer 'moved on', he wasn't banned.

Not much. If enough people report you or your posts you are at risk of being banned or having your posts edited to removed. Even if the posts are not rule breaking whatsoever.

I was banned for 24 hours here once for posting a picture of some puppies. Go figure.

Seriously, someone has been banned for asking folk for money? Have folk never heard the word "no"?

They must do their absolute nut when someone sticks a bag through their door looking for assorted clothes, shoes or similar:rotfl:

So all it takes is for one person to report one post, and you get a ban? Don't the mods look at the reported post to check if a ban is justified?

No. If enough people report a post, then that poster can be PPR'd on the basis of "being a drain on resources" - i.e. MSE Towers get fed up of receiving reports about that person, so they PPR them regardless of whether the reports are justified.

Marley and I were wondering the other day whether it's system-processed, in the same way that posts marked as Spam are auto-removed after a certain number of clicks of the spam button. Perhaps if there are enough Reports submitted about posts by a particular forum member, it does the initial 2week PPR automatically. But that's just a hypothesis.

I'm not actually suggesting this in the least as I wouldn't want anyone to get into trouble........ no, honestly...... but wouldn't it be really, really funny, if all the folk who disapprove of the censorship hit the "report" button the next time a certain Mr Lewis :money: posted something:eek:?

He said he just got fed up with posting. I often wonder if he was given a warning or slap on the wrist, because he often used to post on topics that are "controversial" like religion or abortion, etc.
He wasn't PPRed though.
