Well there's nothing more to cut from me. Slaughtered by the bedroom tax living in a two bedroom flat with stage two of the eviction process on the way because LA & Housing Association don't talk to each other leading to me not even knowing that the shortfall was down to the bedroom tax.

And now Housing Benefit gets stopped at the drop of a coin every time a change of circumstances occur, every time with no justification.

I'm working and don't claim IS / JSA and there must be 1000's more like me - all it does is just puts more power in the hands of employers who know they can pick and choose desperate willing people that will never ask for pay rises and can be worked to the bone on minimum wages as the alternative is homelessness.

Most people in favour of all these benefit cuts are those lucky enough to own their homes which are going up in value every year by more than most of us can earn on these minimum wage jobs in a year.

There might be nothing more to cut but surely there is more to gain - by getting a second job. That sounds far more favourable than homelessness.

Why the assumption that property always rises in value? That's simply not true. Plus homeowners have far more costs than those in social housing - if we need maintenance doing we pay for it ourselves.

Sorry to read about your predicament. Its a sad way to run a country. If history should tell us something about austerity is that cutting and penalising ordinary people does not work. The home of capitalism USA ended the great depression by having a great President -Franklin D Roosevelt who brought in the New Deal which looked after the poor, got people working and built the biggest economy in the world. Franklin D Roosevelt is viewed in history as a great man of vision, intelligence, courage and compassion even 70 years after his death. What will history make of David Cameron ?

I have no problem with the so-called bedroom tax in principle. The problem, as with so many Government plans, is with the implementation. It's all very well telling somebody who lives in a 2 bedroom flat that they only qualify for one bedroom, but are there 1 bedroom flats available for them to move to? In many instances no.
It is therefore totally unreasonable for the 'bedroom tax' to be applied to people in that situation. If a one bed has been offered and declined it's a different situation completely.
I would stress that I'm not commenting specifically on davefrombristol's situation as I don't know the detail.

But then people on LHA are limited to a set rate, people on SMI to a set percentage - why should those in social housing not be subject to limitation also?

They should cut SMI! Why should people get their mortgage paid? There should be compulsory insurance just like a car.

And a compulsory insurance for those paying rent?

When I claimed SMI my insurance would not pay out as it was due to a pre existing disability.

You can't really expect to be doing well financially when you only work one day a week, for whatever reason.

It may well be that Child Benefit be limited to 2 children, as pointed out during the election run up. And totally removed from "The rich", though no-one as yet told me who these "Rich" are.
Annual heating allowance removed from those in hot countries.
Perhaps all the benefits under one umbrella category, as is now being slowly rolled out, though another department may be needed to make the selections/decisions.
I would imagine some would be retrospective but others not. Going to save millions but need millions to administer.
On a bit of a slant. Are you aware that the finance sector in London has a throughput of Trillions of pounds? Now a 1% tax as a one off, like the oil and pension raids, would clear our debts and we wouldn't have to touch peoples' benefits. Those deserving shouldn't be penalised but those abusing the system should be kicked up the arrus.
