You are living on money that is taken by the government from people that work hard AND you think it right that instead of using a windfall to reduce that dependency you want to spend £15,000 on a new shiny car AND continue to expect to carry on dibbing into the Welfare pot to live on?

    Shame.

Yet you think it's fine to claim approx £200 per week, which you don't need, in state pension when you have '6' private pensions paying you a monthly payment.

DLA and CA arent affect by inheritance. Is the ESA contributory or income based?
If income based anything over £6000 is knocked of at a £1 for every £250, at 16k you loose it altogether.

The inheritance tax on the estate will put 10s of thousands back in the Govts pockets.
I never said that buying a car for 15k would enable me to claim benefits either.
Even after a 15K car and a trip to USA I will still be way over the limit.

Thanks, ESA is classed as contribution based as she is in the support group.
  • People in receipt of HRM are given £8965.32 to spend on transport every three years. Maybe £15K on a car that should be expected to last more than three years isn't so unreasonable for someone spending their own money in receipt of LRM.

Although I think you should probably have a good reason for needing a £15K car instead of an £8K car.

Saving the environment probably doesn't cut it!

I hope not 5k for a good car is adequate!

You get this so often on this site, claiming money to help with living expenses, then when a windfall lands in their laps it's a nice big holiday and a new car. Fingers up to the tax payer.

I have actually been to America 8 times in as many years. I have also had numerous other holidays abroad.
Going to America again will not be out of line with my normal spending.

That is not neccessarily the case, ESA can be contributory or income-related in either group.

I know the OP has a high post count, but am I the only one sensing a wind up here?

Or just another with a twisted sense of "entitlement" ...

If its completely cb based, it wont affect the claim, but i would imagine as its a joint claim it would have to have some element of ib in it. either way you'd only loose £4 a week for every 1k over 6k.
