Ex wants loan in my address

Not sure where to post this one. I split with my ex boyfriend 7 months ago, he no longer lives with me but his name is on my tenancy as we are renting a council house. He isn't a nice person hence the breakup and he called today to say a loan pack will arrive in the post soon, I am to give it to him as soon as it arrives... how is he allowed to do this?! Am I allowed to refuse his post, he has his bank etc still at this address!

Will this loan effect me? He is a gambler and has left me with £3k debt so I really don't want anymore.

Thanks

Depends how much you want to convince the balliffs he no longer lives there when he defaults.

I'd mark it- No longer at this address and stick it in the nearest postbox when it arrives- and swear blind it never arrived when he asks.

If he's not a nice person why are you still in contact with him anyway ?
And get him removed from your tenancy before he tries to move back in

Have you informed the council that he's no longer a tenant at your address?

I think the idea of marking the envelope "return to sender, no longer resident at this address" is a good one.

ok I will do that. We have children together so its not that simple :(
I can't get him removed from the tenancy, the council won't do it as 'its a legal document' Ive tried everything :( He wanted the loan so he can rent a house and furnish it. he is living with his parents at the mo.

Yes but they won't take his name off, if anyone knows anything more I can do please help! The police say he isn't allowed to move back in as its breaking the peace, yet the council say legally hes allowed.. yet they put me on single person council tax etc :/

I'd tell him to do one and not help at all as you know grief will burden your door shortly after he gets paid.

Sounds bizarre that they won't take his name off the tenancy. Is it his house (officially) or are you in a joint tenancy?

The following is from the Gosport council website. Possibly it's the same everywhere.
    Removing a Name

Under section 13 of the secure Tenancy act a joint tenancy can be assigned to a sole tenancy with the agreement of all parties.

If you wish to remove a name from the Tenancy you must contact your Housing Officer to make them aware of this.

A Deed of Assignment will be completed and all parties to the deed will have to sign this. You will be required to show two forms of identification at this time.

You need to be careful as a lone parent receiving any kind of benefit or tax credits. Send the letter back 'not at this address'. In fact, I would consider contacting the bank/business directly and saying he does not live with you and should not be contacted via that address. The reason for this is that benefits 'data matching' may throw him up as living with you still and it will cause you problems - potentially going as far as prosecuting you for benefit fraud. Please be careful.

Its a joint tenancy, apparently I have to get a court order to get his name off, as you can imagine being in his dbt I can't afford anything atm, He uses my car to see the kids as he threatens he will come in my house if I don't.

Maybe go for the court order, then? Sounds like he's already in the criminal system if he's had an order banning him from going round to your place. I'd change the locks, too!!
