PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi Di
That was quick.
I sent a second letter to Santandar saying that I still disputed the ppi selling as nothing was discussed, I did not fill in the form just got asked to sign and the merits of getting 10% off my first purchase was discussed nothing about ppi, plus stressed I had cover elsewhere but they have still said no with a final letter. The thing is that if Im reading it correctly I took the card out in 2000 and it was GE Capital at the time and they were not covered by FOS. So who do I contact in this case, or should I forget it

Hi Michelle
I would not leave it there.
Many of us who have been in this situation have been advised to go the actual insurer direction, so even if not covered where the FOS are unable to investigate, ring them anyway and ask for their suggestions on this one.

They may suggest this to you, if not then mention this to them and see what they think.
Good luck.:)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
What were you reclaiming:
Bank Loan
Who was the provider:
NatWest
How much did you get back:
£4,640.20 in cash and a further £3,724.52 reduction in loan for future payments And interest (Reducing my total debt by £8,364.72)
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman:
Used the templates,then used FOS
And then write your brief reclaim tale
Look at my thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1976279&highlight=oldnthrifty
It is worth mentioning the profesional manner with which the FOS dealt with the case...They treat you with respect and do not lose your files, they even call you back if you are on a mobile. They could not speed the whole process up but they never fobbed me off with excuses. Just to have someone listen to YOUR SIDE OF THE STORY is fantastic. So a big hand to all at FOS :T
What a fantastic community we have, sharing the knowledge and achieving great feats. So a massive big hand to all of us and of course the marvelous MSE team.:T:T:T:T:T:T

Posted off another 3 letters yesterday, CitiBank, CapitalOne & another CitiFinancial one. 2 cards & 1 loan. Will see what happens for the price of a few stamps.
Not sure if it was on this thread or another one (I'm a bit obsessed with this site!) But I checked my credit report with experian and found I had another credit card which I'd forgotten all about! Thankfully the account is closed. So I shall get another letter out just as soon as I buy a new printer as mine has given up the ghost!
This has become a bit of a challenge in itself. I've sent the link to so many people and hope they have as much success as I have, so far......

* Who was your lender: Black Horse (secured loan)
* Reason for mis-sell: Told that purchase of PPI was essential for loan application to be successful
* How much did you get back: £5,814 (100% of PPI payments including 8% interest)
* How many stages to success: After first refund request letter.
* Brief Tale: 01/02/10: Sent adapted first template letter for Loan via recorded delivery.
13/02/10: Received letter from Black Horse to say that their investigations show that PPI was not mis-sold. However as a gesture of goodwill they will refund all PPI payments paid so far, including 8% interest and reduce future repayments to exclude the PPI. The letter included paperwork to sign to accept the settlement offer
13/02/10: Sent back acceptance form via recorded delivery01/03/10: Loan repayments reduced from c£595 to c£472Thank you Martin :money:
22/04/10 c£5,814 refund directly into bank account (in account the direct debit is paid from)
Note that between sending the acceptance and receiving the refund I did make a few calls to follow up how long the refund would take. i was told that because the amount was above £5,000 there were special authorization channels that took so long.

The FOS had been dealing with a case I had with RBS. I sent back the acceptance form and called RBS about a fortnight later for an update, they were very pleasant and helpful and I received a cheque a week later. So all in all it was about 3 weeks. Hope this helps. Well done with yours and good luck.
thank you i will get on to them tommorow.0
