twinkledust wrote: »got a lovely final response letter from littlewoods this morning saying my ppi was fair. They have quoted a date when I aparently agreed to upgrade! my ppi on my account giving me further cover....which I can't remember but when they are quoting dates etc it must be right enough?? I don't remember it. I find it strange I agreed to upgrade as well its very not like me! They have also said that a certificate and policy details were sent out to me when I signed up to it...which I def did not recieve as all my important documents are kept together and they would be there! I'm feeling quite disheartened. If I've agreed to something like that I mustv'e been on another planet.

Hi there
They should be able to send you another copy of the policy on request, and not only that if this was not the final decision then write back to them and ask them to reconsider?
What year did you take this out?
You may be able to take this to the financial ombudsman service (FOS) if they do no uphold in your favour, if they get back and tell you your unable to go to the FOS then find out who the insurer is and pursue the mis selling to them, the FOS will be able to consider investigating if you go the insurer direction.
Many of us are going the insurer direction, also as the FOS have suggested to many, so do not give up quite yet when there are avenues you can try.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi - I have today recieved a letter from Lloyds regarding the repayment of my PPI following the FOS ruling in my favour - YIPPEE!!!!! - it took 2 letters to lloyds, a refused "gesture of goodwill" and a letter to the FOS - 12 months in total.
However, the letter is confusing and I wondered whether anyone here would look at the following text and let me know if it seems correct? For some reason, I seem to be experiencing trust issues with this particular bank!!!
The original PPI amount was £4086.38 and my monthly repayments on the full loan and PPI have been £346. The term of the loan was 84 months and I have paid 62 months.
Your refund has been calculated in two seperate transactions as per the FOS remedy, each of which I have detailed below:- £4086.38 has been paid directly to your loan account to represent a full refund of your insurance premiums and cancellation of your insurance policy, this represents a full 84 monthly insurance premiums without interest. This payment will enable our Personal Loan Service Centre to completely remove the insurance from your loan account.
- In addition to this you will receive an 8% simple interest payment on the monthly instalments you have made for insurance of £764.58. You will see this as one payment of £764.58 to your bank account.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me
Hi there
first of all well done and Congratulations.
I am not good at working with calculations, but I'm sure someone will be along at some point soon to take a look for you, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

This was their final response they state that at the bottom of their letter.
extra care advantage was applied to my account on 23rd january 2003. They are saying that further enhanced payments were offered and accepted on 28th April 2005. It was offered via telephone on 23rd jan they have said. It says the advisors offer the insurance using a sales script and they would have read this out for eligibility of cover and a cert of insurance was sent outlining all terms n conditions and benefits of cover. I don't have a certificate. I'm mad because they now have me doubting myself. As the insurance is offered and accepted over the telephone no paperwork needed signed. They say it appears monthly on my statements (which I knew but thought it was essential) and I could have cancelled it anytime. Because I stated I was not aware the premiums applied were optional, they are saying I was aware because it appeared on my statement every 28 days so they will not be offering a refund.0 -
Congrats bumpy127! thats brilliant! well done!

Hi hun
I would keep fighting this, they do say these things in hope they won't hear any further from you. They hope this have put you off and in my opinion this looks like a standard response.
So now as it being a final response if you cannot take them to the FOS, go the insurer direction instead.....if they do not uphold at least you can take the insurer to the FOS as they would have been governed.
Just a thought, but have you requested a Subject Access Request (SAR) from them?
It is up to you if you want to do this but they have 40 days to comply and send all the information they hold on you going back 5/6 years, but there is a charge or £10 postal order of cheque payment for this request.
You never know something useful may come back within the SAR which may be evidence to support your case, such as telephone transcripts with dates, or even disc recorded calls etc, but it is up to you, or just go the insurer direction.

Thanks for the advice Di, I thought this sounded kind of final from them and they have me wondering now but I honestly cannot remember it. I was gonna leave it but I think I will take your advice and keep at it as I believe for the reasons I sent them that it was mis-sold. I haven't sent them a SAR so I think I will just to check it out for myself and if I have agreed through a telephone conversation I cannot remember then I will accept responsibility. I really don't think so though its just would be really unlike me but it was supposedly 7 and 5 years ago...
Let the fight continue! I shall go organise a SAR letter! Thanks Di I shall post in due courseones faith has been restored for now!

That's the way :T:T
An SAR may help it should be useful, but its up to you of course, but your right to keep fighting them, good luck.:)XThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Just wanted to say a big thanks. I sent a letter to LTSB 4 weeks ago reclaiming my PPI's on an ongoing loan of £12000. In the 2nd week I recieved a letter advising that they were going to refund, plus interest and 8%. In the 4th week I recieved a payment into my account of £2,450!!!
I am also chasing MBNA however have had a teleophone conversation with them and they are not accepting responsibility but offered a refund of 1/3rd of my premiums. I turned them down and asked for confirmation in writing - I have had a letter from them today saying that they have paid the refund onto my credit card. The conversation was supposed to be being recorded!!! Can they do this and does it prevent me from taking this issue further?
great news on getting your money back :beer:I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free0 -

Motivated by this site and by recent success I persevered with some others.
Wins so far are:
A&L - 1800 - one letter
EGG - 1200 - one letter
BARCLAYCARD - 500 - one letter
Just had a further £1000 paid into my account from Barclays. This one was the best as the loan value was only £1500 in the first place. Shows what a rip off it all is!!
I must give credit to Barclays and Barclaycard...they kept me well informed of progress with bi-weekly letters and handled this all very well.
Two more to go that have gone to ombusdman as no reply/acknowledgment after two letters.
Still, 4 easy wins out of 6 aint bad....IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE A CASE THEN HAVE A GO....YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE.
I got £4500 back which will come in handy as my wife is expecting our first baby!!
a lot of money back in your pocket definately worht doing it yourself
