What were you reclaiming: PPI on Credit Card
Who was the provider: MBNA
How much did you get back: £2050
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 2 Letters
Sent first letter had a telephone call from MBNA originally offering £500, which in the course of the call was upped to £1000, which they would not improve upon, but they sent me the cheque for the £1000.
I then wrote a letter explaining that I did not accept that their "goodwill" offer was sufficient to cover my ppi contributions, just recieved letter today of their final offer increasing the total to £2050 which covers my ppi payments but not statutory interest, but hey this is £2050 which I wouldn't have got back without this site so I'm over the moon0 -
I then used the 2nd template and drew their attention to the fact I was self employed. This morning I received a letter stating that a refund of £8,241.53 will be credited to my next statement!!
great result, a lot of money they shouldn't have had in the first place.
just out of interest did they give you a breakdown.

I followed Martin's template letters and as expected was rejected after the 1st one. The bank sent a copy of my application form which clearly stated I was self employed at the time.
I then used the 2nd template and drew their attention to the fact I was self employed. This morning I received a letter stating that a refund of £8,241.53 will be credited to my next statement!!
I am thrilled and so pleased I was finally brave enough to challenge them.
Thank you Martin xx
Wonderful, well done and Congratulations

- What were you reclaiming: PPI on loans
- Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
- How much did you get back: Not sure yet - around £9,000
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Other claims are with the Ombudsman (see below)
- And then write your brief reclaim tale:
I've had a letter regarding 5 loans/reloans - 2 are on the Ombudsman's list and the other 3 are prior to internet banking and I didn't have a record of them. They are agreeing to refund all three.
In the letter they say, 'It is important to inform you that my decision has been made on behalf of Lloyds TSB.'
Given the quantity of these PPIs, I think the Ombudsman would've given me compensation - can I assume that if I just accept these then I'll lose out on this?
I also want to reclaim bank charges due to hardship - the Ombudsman thinks I should write to Lloyds one more time regarding this. Now that these payments are going to be made, I will no longer be in hardship. However, it was the PPIs that made me in such a bad financial way. In the FOS website they say that people should be put back into their original financial position, including refund of any charges.
Has anyone successfully claimed back charges as a result of unnecessary PPIs?0 -

Hi Bonnie and well done to you.:T
The FOS does normally request for extra compensation in certain circumstances, where they may have requested this for you but in regards of the bank its not always the case, hopefully though they will also compensate you by giving the 8% of what a court would award for being deprived of your money.
You can try to reclaim the charges as a separate issue as such with credit cards ppi etc, to find out more about this check this link here:

What were you reclaiming: PPI on 5 Loans
Who was the provider: NatWest (RBS)
How much did you get back: £3500
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: FOS
And then write your brief reclaim tale: Initially corresponded directly to bank using the template letters. They offered just the payments as goodwill, we said no and went to FOS and we were awarderd the 8% interest. Worked out about £2000 in repayments and £1500 in interest - so glad we said no.0 -
