Something to potentially look out for, I have recently won with Barclays and received the letter of confirmation from them, they have refunded the PPI but failed to refund the one off credit charge for this which they add on the loan at the start.

What were you reclaiming: 3 Credit Cards and Loan
Who was the provider: Halifax, MBNA and Barclaycard Credit Cards and a Halifax Loan
How much did you get back: In total so far £3152.29
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Through letters adpated from MSE templates.

After learining about the great PPI rip-off I checked back though my old records and was dismayed to find that PPI had been included on a number of credit cards and loans that I had taken out over recent years and that this had clearly been mis-sold.

Adapting the template letters from this site I fired off some letters before Christmas to Halifax (Credit Card and Loan), MBNA (Credit Card) and Barcaycard (Credit Card).

To date I have received the following!

Halifax Credit Card - PPI refund inc interest at 8% - £925.17

MBNA Credit Card - PPI refund - £198.85 . This did not include interest as requested in the letter I sent so I queried it with them and they sent me a further cheque for £18.19

Halifax Loan - PPI refund inc refund of interest paid to date at 6.10% and further requested Interest at 8% - Total £2010.08 - In addition to this they are also reducing my monthly payment by almost £45 for the remainder of the loan!

I've also got an ongoing claim with Barclaycard who seem to be playing hardball - Despite my letter outlining all the details relating to the mis-selling of PPI they sent a questionnaire for me to fill out - I sent them another copy of my letter and on the questionnaire simply referred them to the letter for the details required. I have a feeling that they are not going to pay up without a fight.......... but if that's what they want then that's what they will get!! :mad:

Anyway thanks to all on here for giving me the encouragement to get my money back from these thieving so and so's!! The money has paid of one of my credit cards completely and what with the money saved from the reduction of the Loan payment I'm now well over £100 a month better off - money that will be well used in helping to reduce my debt further!

I also wanted to say that I keep on getting various companies contacting me, usually on my mobile phone (very annoying!), asking me about PPI and did I know that I could claim back thousands........ blah blah blah! The bottom line is that you do NOT need these companies to reclaim your money - you can do it by yourself by following the useful guidance on this site and going for it! I'm not sure how these companies that reclaim your PPI work but no doubt they will take a slice of the pie!

Who was the provider: Barclaycard Credit Cards and a TESCO Loan
How much did you get back: In total so far £2996
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Through letters adpated from MSE templates.

I've received PPI repayments from both Barclaycard accounts. One is now cleared and one has more than halved.
I'm still waiting to hear whether Tesco's will follow suit.(RBOS?) That was a long paid off loan and would net me about £750.
I was self employed when I was sold the insurance. I had to make one phonecall to Barclaycard earlier this week because I hadn't heard from them regarding the latest repayment of £2650. Got the letter 10 minutes ago with their offer!!
I really didn't expect this to be so easy.

How much did you get back: £768 for Lombard Loan
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 2 Letters.

We wrote to them in November using templates from here. Had a few stalling letters and today a letter saying as a goodwill gesture they will refund all premiums paid on Lombard loan. Tesco Loan is running a day behind so may hear about that tomorrow.
