What were you reclaiming: PPI on 5 Loans
Who was the provider: NatWest (RBS)
How much did you get back: £3500
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: FOS
And then write your brief reclaim tale: Initially corresponded directly to bank using the template letters. They offered just the payments as goodwill, we said no and went to FOS and we were awarderd the 8% interest. Worked out about £2000 in repayments and £1500 in interest - so glad we said no.

    Well done!

I have a claim with the FOS for RBS and another for DirectLine (also RBS), I sent them to the FOS in Feb last year and am still waiting for an adjudicator, how long has the FOS taken with yours?

    • What were you reclaiming: Loan
    • Who was the provider: Northern Rock
    • How much did you get back: £2758 + balance of loan repaid
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale: We applied to Northern Rock 5 yrs ago for a loan to finance a new car purchase - their interest rate was the cheapest on the market by quite a margin. We attempted to complete the loan online, making sure the checkbox for PPI was unchecked. We were refused the credit but urged to call them where they could take more info and see if we could be accepted. So we called and were told that the only way they could give us the loan was by taking out their PPI - the reason being they weren't convinced my job was secure enough - I'd been a manager in a multinational corporation for 15yrs and my wife is a teacher and the loan was in her name so even if I had lost my job (I didn't) I wouldn't have been covered.
Heard about mis-selling from Martin on JV Show and thought I'd have a look into it, filled in the template letter and sent it off. Got an acknowledgement letter a couple of weeks later and a few weeks after that got a letter offering full refund of PPI premium and interest charged on them and the 8% - only have 2 repayments left on loan so its quite a substantial sum

I received my letter back from the bank today, so:

    What were you reclaiming: PPI
Who was the provider: Lloyds Tsb
How much did you get back: £450 ish (only a small loan)
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 letter sent less than 2 weeks ago to the bank.
And then write your brief reclaim tale : Sent 1 letter to the bank on the 8th, received response yesterday saying will be fully repaided with the 8%.

So i sent the acceptance back (recorded delivery) yesterday so they should get it tuesday latest. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to when this will be paid?! does it take long after they receive the acceptance to process it?! it wasnt stated in the letter. thanks!
A good friend can tell you what is the matter with you in a minute ...:A

  • What were you reclaiming: loan
Who was the provider: Northern Rock
How much did you get back: £4380.27 = £3247.92 premiums and interest plus £1132.35 8% simple interest on premiums paid
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: after a letter
And then write your brief reclaim tale: we sent a template letter in 2007 which was rejected. Today we received a letter from Northern Rock completely out of the blue, saying they had conducted a further review of our PPI mis-selling complaint to ensure it was handled appropriately. Having reviewed the complaint, they were not able to establish that when we took out the PPI policy we were provided with sufficient detail to allow us to make an informed choice.

Thanks so much Martin and everyone involved with the PPI mis-selling campaign!

its nice to see northern rock are taking on board the fsa advice and re-vissiting all the rejected complaints again,

great news on your award,:beer:
