I would like to encourage ANYONE with beliefe that they are entitled to claim and thank Martin and this fantastic site! :T

I sent the first template letter to Lloyds TSB over a PPI policy for a personal loan,

I received a standard letter stating that they were looking in to my case and that if i felt i had further information i should let them know and it would be taken in to account.
As a result I sent a letter giving full details of the circumstances underwhich i took the loan and reason i believed that the PPI was missold to me.

I received a letter back yesterday, which informed me that all points i raised in my evidence letter would be address, ( they only acutually did half!!!) they dismissed each and every point that they had answered but in a two line conclusion at the end of the letter stated ' as a goodwill gesture ....' i could have a 'favorable' pro rata refund of £1397.97

which is what i had paid plus £200 additional -

Could not have come at a better time and was on the strenght of 2 letters!!

many thanks again to the site and Martin .... and to everyone who hasnt done it yet GO FOR IT !!!:j

    Hi and welcome.;)

    Absolutely fab work....:T:T
    Congratulations.

May I ask how long they taken to deal with your complaints in total, such as when you first complained? cheers.

  • Hi - sorry was carried away with my sucess lol !

I sent the original letter on the 30th November , got a reply dated 4th December , sent my 'evidence on 15th December and got the good news on the 22nd January, but seeing as christmas fell in the middle of it and the weather didnt help the post at all - in fairness it was a very quick turnaround!

gonna have a look at all other contracts now and have another go -
I did have a bit of an advantage - i am studying a CeMAP mortgage qualification and quoted some of the treating customers fairly stuff that i had been learning - will be happy to provide details if asked to anyone.

Just to let you know I won another of my reclaiming cases (already won with Northern Rock and Bank of Scotland), this time with Barclaycard for £147.00 on a card I have had since around 2001.:j
But having received a letter from BOS before Christmas upholding my complaint and after NUMEROUS phone calls requesting a calculation of my refund they have informed me there are "EXCESSIVE" (their words not mine) delays in receiving the statements from another department in order for the calculation to be carried out. After pressing the woman on the phone to try and get some sort of timescale she started giving me information she probably shouldnt; i.e there has been a system crash over christmas which STILL hasnt been fixed, and she had been told not to tell customers when it would be fixed, also that some refund calculations had been put on hold indefinately.
The upshot is that I am still no further forward in knowing when I will get MY MONEY back, and I think they are just dragging their feet in calculating the refunds.
Anyone waiting for a refund calculation from BOS dont hold your breath or spend your money yet.
I am wondering if a call to the FOS would be worth it.:mad::mad:

    Hi there

First of all, well done on your success with both NR and BOS........ and Barclaycard.:beer:.
There is no harm in contacting the FOS for some advice and see what they say, good luck.;)

  • After reading Martin's advice I applied to the Cooperative Bank for a PPI refund, I followed the advice on the letter templates sending off two letters. The case was referred to the Ombudsman and in December I received £589 back! This went back to the late 90s too!!

  • A huge thank-you for enabling me to successfully claim back my PPI and interest on a personal loan. The templates worked a treat without having to go to the FO. As requested, details as follows:

Loanover 7 years (just 6 months left to run)

    PPI £5863

    Refund £7269.57

Reduction per month in payments now policy is cancelled = £90+

    Royal Bank of Scotland

I have to say, RBS responded very well. The first letter based on your template was sent 10 Nov 09. They acknowledged quickly and then sent a further letter requesting more time to investigate on 6 Jan 2010. I responded 12 Jan 2010 with a letter based again on one of your templates, advising they have had sufficient time and that they now have 14 days to satisfactorily respond or I would contact the FO. On 20 Jan 2010 they acknowledged they had been "unable to confirm precisely what information you were given at the time you purchased the policy" and offered the above amount "as a gesture of goodwill".:j

    Once again my thanks.
