hi all just a quick question. i wrote to hsbc regarding three loans we had i have received a letter today saying that 2 of the loans had no ppi but they are investigating 1 of them as it did have ppi. i stumbled across these account numbers as i dont have any agreements as the loan was taken in 2001 by chance looking for something else and i wrote off to them. although i have agreement numbers i cant remember how much the loan was for and how much ppi was in it. my question is if the bank are investigating the one with ppi on should i be able to get a copy of the agreement?

    Hi lucieloo

It maybe worth asking them about this.

If the loan was settled within the last 6 years they should I believe still have information on the loans.;)

I don't want you wasting your money, but with one of mine about a year ago I requested a Subject Access Request (SAR) from my bank of Lloyds and they even sent me info going back into the late 90's which have actually helped to support my complaints.

Not sure if HSBC would be the same.
However, if they are unable to supply your info they should return your payment with an explanation.

To request for an agreement only, its a £1 postal order or cheque payment and you should receive this by 12 days of requesting for this, don't know what your chances are though.

And of course as you are aware an SAR costs £10 postal order or cheque payment and they have 40 days with this one.

I am so glad I followed the PPI reclaim guide!

I followed it step by step and it took about 4 months I did send a letter to the Ombudsman and 2 weeks or so later Welcome wrote to me offering the refund plus interest.

The loan was with Welcome Finance or should I say UnWelcome Finance!
I got £1700 refunded too me for my 3 year loan @ £169.27 a month for 3 years!

I recommend anyone who has a loan and has been missold PPI by Welcome to give it a go...you have nothing to lose as Martin say's!:money:

Go get emmm! I dont recommend anyone no matter how desperate you are to get anything from Welcome they are the biggest robbers out there. I borrowed £1000 and nearly payed back £7000!

I'm def going to try this! I got a 15,000 loan from welcome supposed to be over 10 years but ended up 15 when I signed the paperwork! but I was desperate and was told the loan was approved within seconds and ppi was included! At £271 a month I through other means got a settlement figure and paid them off just under 3 years later. I was roughly £20,000 as a settlement....this was settled just over 3 years ago....can I still claim for this????

any advice welcome...apart from welcome finance :p
  • My daughter has just been successful in reclaiming missold PPI from Northern Rock linked to a car loan that she had taken out. She intially wrote to Northern Rock in September 2007 using the template from MSE. At first her claim was refused but after several more letters and a review from the FSA she has been offered £718.92p in respect of the PPI payments that she made plus £131.64p interest on the premiums paid, making a grand total of £850.56p. Needless to say she is delighted. Thanks again Martin

Yes go for it, you write to the ones that actually arranged and sold you the loan, so if there was a broker from another business that found you the loan you write to them, good luck.;)

More info on reclaiming here with guidelines, and templates etc, if you need any help give us a yell.
