PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

A huge thank-you for enabling me to successfully claim back my PPI and interest on a personal loan. The templates worked a treat without having to go to the FO. As requested, details as follows:
Loanover 7 years (just 6 months left to run)
PPI £5863
Refund £7269.57
Reduction per month in payments now policy is cancelled = £90+
Royal Bank of Scotland
I have to say, RBS responded very well. The first letter based on your template was sent 10 Nov 09. They acknowledged quickly and then sent a further letter requesting more time to investigate on 6 Jan 2010. I responded 12 Jan 2010 with a letter based again on one of your templates, advising they have had sufficient time and that they now have 14 days to satisfactorily respond or I would contact the FO. On 20 Jan 2010 they acknowledged they had been "unable to confirm precisely what information you were given at the time you purchased the policy" and offered the above amount "as a gesture of goodwill".:j
Once again my thanks.
Hi and welcome.;)
Wonderful.........:T:T
Well done and Congratulations.
Great work.:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Personal Loan PPI taken out in February 2006 with Lloyds TSB
Had to go through the FOS, but today we received a letter from them stating that we will receive a full refund of all premiums paid up to November 2009 when Lloyds finally got round to cancelling the policy despite asking them to do so via letter several times since 2008.
We don't know the amount yet as the FOS say Lloyds are still calculating it. I am more pleased that we have showed Lloyds we won't be treated the way they have treated us over this, more then any money we may receive.0 -
Hi I'm new to the forum but usually visit the site for advice. I took Martin's advice and wrote the letter myself to Halifax. I was 18 when they pressured me into having a credit card, and then conned me into the insurance. I'm now nearly 22 and in around £10,000 of debt. It was around two months until I got a reply but they called on Friday telling me I would have it all refunded plus 8%, plus "compensation". My arrears on my card will be paid off, and then I will get the rest in a cheque. They couldn't tell me how much it will be and I don't really know either but it's a bit sliced off my debt either way isn't it? So I thought I would join the forum and share the good news because I woulnd't have known about it if I hadnt seen it on this site.0

In July 2009 I started the process of reclaiming PPI from Central Capital with the aid of the letters from this website. On 18.01.10 I got a letter saying they refute most of my claims but after listening to the sales application call it was clear that their Customer Account Manager did not follow processes. I'm now very happy to report that they are refunding 2,436.62 :j I'm delighted. I've chosen to continue with the PPI payments for the final 20 months then I'll get the 6,000 repaid from the policy as well. I'm also hoping in 20 months that I'll be able to reclaim back the final lot of PPI payments which will bring the total paid back to around 10,000.
I would highly recommend anyone thinking about reclaiming to do so and use the letters from this site.
THANKYOU MARTIN AND TEAM

What were you reclaiming: Ppi in loan
Company: Cahoot
Amount? £1360 inc 8% interest
Letter or Ombudsman: 1st letter.
Today is 8 weeks exactly since I sent the first letter, so I drafted a letter to say I hadn't heard anything. When I got home there was a letter from Cahoot saying they were upholding my claim and refunding my premiums. Got the acceptance form signed ready to post in the morning - all being well, money should be in my account by the weekend. Just need to delete the reminder letter now!
Better still is that the loan was paid off in December so not only am I £1300 up, but now £190 a month better off!
Cheers for the letter and encouragement:beer:0 -
Took out a loan(60,000!!!) with, PICTURE loans approx 4 years ago(who have gone bust now).
They told me that I had to have PPI or else I wouldn't get this loan,so like an idiot I did,So on top of the £60,000 they added approx £12,000(grand total now of £72,000)!!!Nobody told us about this at the time!!!
I complained to them(PICTURE LOANS)about this single policy and the miss selling of the loan,I did the complaint letter which is on this website.I received a letter from them to say that the company had gone bust and I wouldn't get any money back!!!
Is this true ?
Is there away to appeal against this?0 -

this is what is posted on their website so its probably best to send your complaint to the fscs.
Complaints regarding the sale of Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) are now being referred to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). You can call the FSCS on 0207 892 7300, email enquiries@fscs.org.uk or write to Financial Services Compensation Scheme, 7th Floor, Lloyds Chambers, Portsoken Street, London, E18BN. Their website is www.fscs.org.ukI'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free0 -
