Just had a call from the FOS, stating that my case has not yet been passed to an Ombudsman, and that it could take a few months !! before it arrives on an Ombudsman's desk to look at!!
What is going on at the FOS?? My case started in Sep 08...
is there anything I can do to get things accelerated? I don't consider myself in hardship, as I still have a roof over my head and food on the table, but a positive outcome, could drastically change my life around...
Please help!!!
I have just received the email below from the FOS. Has anybody received/experienced anything like that with any of your cases? What would be the next step?
Any help greatly appreciated
Dear Mr
Thank you for your email.
The Financial Ombudsman Service is currently in high level talks with Barclays Bank about their PPI complaints.
As soon as we receive further information from Barclays someone will contact you.
I trust this is to your satisfaction.
Kind regards0 -

Hi there
Yes this is standard, the next step will be to let you know is that it have been assigned to an Adjudicator, this may take a little while but hopefully not too long.
Fingers crossed for you.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

This usually means that they are trying to get Barclays to settle PPI complaints as a job lot rather than the FOS having to adjudicate on every single complaint that they have against Barclays.
When Barclays finally agree to do this then the FOS will be in touch about what is happening with your complaint.DS1 12/10/04
DS2 13/07/06

hi gerald, i think barclays are in for a big fine, the fos will be telling them to get there act together and cough up or else, that is a long time to wait from sept o8. if its any consolation di is right and i recieved a letter saying my case was waiting with fp and in the same week i got a letter saying it was upheld. dont despair just yet it may not be too much longer, fingers crossed for you and keep us posted x0

Hi Pinknico.;)
Good one for explaining this, and yes of course I forgot this is the action they do try to take first, hopefully this will be the case for Gerald then, that this will be resolved at this stage to save this being moved on to an adjudicator.:beer:XxxThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi I,m new to all of this but I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has posted threads and for Martin for making us all aware. :AOver the years we have taken out loan after loan, usually to consolidate our finances, we have always taken out the PPI with them, and they have always been in joint names. Five years ago when I was diagnosed with cancer I tried to claim on the insurance and was told that only the first named person could claim, as my husband's name was the first name and being financially nieve we never questioned this. Then in 2007 we consolidate our finances again and was led to beleive this time that we were both covered under the insurance, I know how nieve can someone be. Anyway we paid the premiums and then this year I was admitted into hospital for five days. I checked the policy and noted that we could claim expenses for hospitalisation, again we applied to the insurance to be told again that only my husband was covered. Due to the nature of my illness I was off work for three weeks and during this time heard Martin speak about missold PPI's and his website. Taking the bull by the horns I downloaded the template and sent it off to the bank. Earlier this week we received a letter stating that they would refund us the monthly PPI payments from the start of the loan up to date and 8% interest per annum on each of the monthly payments. I'm not sure how much this will work out but as I am not entitled to sick pay at present due to the amount of time off I have needed to take this year, just knowing that we will get something back from the bank will be such a relief. orry this is so long winded but I am so happy and want others to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel, you just need to know where to look for it. Thanks again!:beer:0
