    I havent asked.

Basically sent the letter 4 days ago. Got reply today offering me the funds.

The break down is as simple as I put it. 2 figures. No breakdown at all.

Their last paragraph states that they consider the matter closed and that I have 6 months to take my complaint to the FOS if unsatisfied.

Is it worth asking for all copies of previous statements? Do they chanve their luck ro do you think they are pretty ligit?

That is entirely up to you, some banks are more lenient than others.
Ask them if they will send you copies of the statements by ringing them and ask if there is a charge for these, some charge some do not.
If there is a charge and you want to request for the statements still - put it into writing, something like:

"Thank you for our telephone conversation on the date of XX/XX/XXXX, I requested for copies of my statements, where you confirm there is a charge of £X for this request, here I enclose the amount of £X cheque or postal order payment as required and I look forward to receiving my copy of the statements by 12 days.

Hope this helps, its always best to ask if they charge, I was going to say though, if they charge for so many a statement it may be better to request for a Subject Access Request (SAR) instead, this costs £10 by either cheque or postal order payment, and they must send everything they hold on you going back as far as 5/6 years, they have 40 days to comply.
If you go this direction, post by recorded delivery as well, this is your proof of posting.

There is a SAR letter template for this on the link here below:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1475553

Check first though, to ask if they will send the statements free or charge, good luck.

I was advised, earlier this year, that a loan I took out with A&L a PPI had possibly been mis-sold to and on investigation they repaid £4,200. With this news and having PPI with EGG Cards I contacted them and whilst initially denying amy reclaim using their internal email system. I wrote direct (using recorded delivery) and within 4 weeks received a refund into my credit card of £2400. Credit to both companies for the speed in which they dealt with the claims I made. A total £6,600.
Used the template letter from your site thankyou ( didn't need to provide all the start dates etc either just explained why I thought it was mis-sold)

Wow that is fab Carl, Well done and Congratulations.

How long was your claim with the FOS? I am in exactly the same situation as you and my claim started back in March!

    Hi

I contacted the Ombudsman in October 2008, so all in all it took by the time I received my cheque from Egg it took exactly 12 months. The Ombudsman originally got around to looking at my claim back in approx, July (8 months later) and they had made their decision within 6 weeks.

    Hope this helps

Well done Gumbi, you deserve it
    • What were you reclaiming: Loan
    • Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
    • How much did you get back: Still awaiting final calculation
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale A complicated tale which I will keep as simple as possible. My wife took out a loan amounting to £15,700 in October 2004 and was told she had to have PPI for the loan to proceed. At the time she was 62 but the PPI period was for 7 years but the unemployment cover ceased after 3 years. This was not acknowledeged but a consolidation loan of £16,000 was granted in December 2007, once again attracting PPI with unemployment cover even though she was then 65 and the insurance did not cover it.
I was directed to this site and used the template letter whereby I received a reply after only two weeks saying the case was being looked at. Now, less than 4 weeks after writing she has received a letter upholding the complaint and asking her to agree to the offer to be calculated which, in effect, is return of the PPI (plus any variance in the settlemet figure in 2007) with 8% SIMPLE interest added for the life of the PPI. It would appear from earlier posts that this is the norm and the bank state that they have used the FOS formula. I am slightly concerned at the use of simple interest as opposed to compound but am I being too greedy? I have calculated the final payment to be in the region of £3k Views welcome.
  • Hi everyone,

I had a cold call from a company called The Claim Guys about a week ago telling me about reclaiming PPI. They say they will do it on my behalf, taking a 25% + VAT cut of the amount received back. This got me thinking; let's see what my friend Martin has set up for this!

I have had an EGG card since 2000 & a Barclaycard since 2001; both with PPI. I can't remember ever saying I wanted it. I tried to claim on the Barclaycard one about 5 years ago after being diagnosed with MS. This wasn't successfull and what's more was told I couldn't cancel the PPI! I eventually managed to cancel it 4 months ago!

Is it really as simple as it sounds to do it yourself and how much do you tend to get back percentage wise? I reclaimed my bank charges a couple of years ago (before it all got snarled up in court) and got about 50% back from Barclays (£750ish - not to be sniffed at at the beginning of December!). I used Martins fantastic templates for that one but this seems even easier! Is it??

I have also had a BHS card, topman card & a Mint card in the past 6 years (long gone now!) and I'm sure had PPI on those as well. I'll try and dig out statements for those now!

    Congratulations to all successes,
    Matt

Yes it is easy to do it yourself and you will get all money back to yourself and not have to give a % to anyone.

If you are successful you should get 100% of premiums paid back, the interest charged because of these premiums and 8% compensatory interest.
