    Hi all,

Just recieved a letter from Sainsbury/Bank of Scotland - saying they had recieved my letter and can I call them to discuss more details of my complaint. Is this usual procedure? I am just concerned that everything should be kept in writing.

Also just sent letters on behalf of my parents to Halifax One credit card and Alliance and Leicester card. Fingers crossed.

Yes it is normal procedure, it's part of a scheme to try and make the process more personal and quicker for customers.
  • Thanks, well in that case I shall give them a call tomorrow

Hi Charlie - I phoned after receiving this letter & the guy was very nice & helpful & on my letter to say I had won it stated that the conversation on the phone had helped them decide in my favour - just be careful though
  • Hi Finatra

I just spoke to a very friendly chap there, he just said they like to people directly, give a personal touch to their complaint handling. I guess it is quite easy to tell over the phone if someone is genuine or on a blag. I am definitely genuine and think I put my case across successfully. He said they would hope to get back to me within the next 4 weeks with their decision - fingers crossed!

  • What: Recliming PPI insurance on a personal loan
    Who: Egg
    Repaid: £2691
Repaid after case awarded by Financial Ombudsman

I complained to Egg early Nov 2008 about the PPI on my personal loan taken out in Oct04 and referred the case to the Financial Ombudsman late Nov 08. After making a few updates to my initial info as requested an Adjudicator decided in my favour in Jul 09. However, Egg did not respond and the case was passed to an Ombudsman. The Ombudsman also decided in my favour though in Aug 09. In Sep09 the decision became binding. I received a cheque from Egg in Oct 09 to close the case.

As a bit more background I had actually canceled my PPI policy in 2006 and had £2500 refund cleared off my loan, although that wasn't made clear when I complained initially. However, the Ombudsman decided the loan should be reworked as if the PPI had not been taken at all - so I recieved a further £2600 including the interest and £200 compensation.

Good luck to anyone else going through it. It took a long time, but was worth it in the end. :j

  • Hi,

Just received a call from MBNA. They have offered to pay back all my PPI associated with my CC. Originally they offered me 2/3 but I said I would rather refer to the FOS. After 5mins on hold, they said they would pay the lot.

Thank you very much! Keep at 'em!
