Thanks hun. The main reason i asked is because i took out my loan between the time window in which HFC were actually fined for, the same with my capital one CC;)TrishaWhen I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

I took out a loan with Britannia Building Society for £6500 5 years ago.
Never knew it at the time but I had been sold "redundancy" insurance - even though I was on a 2 year fixed term contract at the time so would have been fairly useless.
Following advice on this website earlier in the year I wrote to them using the template letter. I received a reply telling me I hadn't got any insurance and so no claim. I accepted this for awhile then read another prompt by Martin saying that this was the likely outcome following a first letter.
So, I wrote again and - very importantly - included a copy of the Credit Agreement. on 15th September I had a letter saying that they would re-pay me all the money I had paid for the insurance, plus the interest. This amounts to approximately £1100 !!
Thanks to this site for the excellent advice - I would strongly encourage anyone with loans to check the small print for mis-selling of insurance and to use the template letters - so simple !0 -

Hi there,
If your going to reclaim as well, its 8 weeks they have to respond.
In regards of cancelling they should have cancelled by now though I think, did you post your letter by recorded delivery?
Good luck with this.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I was jsut wondering if you could apply for these PPI charges back even if your creditor is on a DMP with the CCCS? I am looking at just doing this to knock some of the balance off a CC that I was paying about £40 for this each month, It would help loads and would make it more than likely easier to pay off this huge credit card. Also could it turn them nasty again and start charging silly interest and charges again?
Thanks to anyone for advice0
