    • What were you reclaiming: PPI on a loan
    • Who was the provider: HSBC
    • How much did you get back: £2,616.82
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
Loan taken out by OH and paid off in 2007. He wasn't told that it didn't cover existing medical conditions. Today he received the offer letter for the full refund plus 8%.

A big, big THANK YOU to Martin for this. It took the cost of a stamp to do this and it was Martin's video on the MSE site that convinced us to reclaim.

What were you reclaiming: PPI on Loan
    Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: £698
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 letter to the bank then 1 letter to the Ombudsman

Hi all...I'm glad to report a successful reclaim from HSBC. My initial complaint was turned down due to me signing and agreeing to the PPI but they failed to recognize that i felt pressured into taking this out by the sales person. I didn't bother with the second letter to them and went straight to the Ombudsman who were very fast and sorted my claim out within 2 weeks without any further contact.

Thanks martin and everyone that posts on this site - it really is simple if you haven't claimed already get on it!

I'm now pursuing Egg in the same way - will keep you posted

    Cheers

  • I have had and still have a loan with HFC Bank (formally Hamilton Bank) which included PPI. I recently wrote to them using the template from the web site. I have received a reply saying that the policies were sold correctly and its there final response. If I am unhappy with their reply then my only course is the contact the Finanacial Ombudsman services. Is this normal and should I go straight to the Ombudsman? Or should I write back to them?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Just sent my letter off to alliance and leicester so see what happens?

I dont actually have my loan amount etc, but do have a letter from them with my account number saying thank you for paying off your loan, so I just used the loan account number from that.

any one had any sucess with alliance and leicster how long did it take for a response and did you do anything different?

I think most of the people who have sent the 1st letter got an offer
we sent a letter jan 2008 and got a reply in 2 weeks and they offered to refund the payments we had paid for PPI on the loan we had payed off in 2004 (but not the extra 8% or other costs)

    something is better than nothing
    give it a go

Hi,lm not one of the experts but have had loads of help from them. l suggest you look through some previous posts especially on reclaiming discussions about ppi and get a few ideas from there, sending a second letter being a bit more stern wont do any harm ,FOS are really busy so you'll proberly have quite a wait. Good Luck

Took out a loan with First Plus in 2005.

Wrote to them about 10 days ago, I got a response from First Plus which was particularly snotty, did not address the issue but said on recent phonecalls I had not mentioned I was not happy blah blah blah

However I forgot that I went through another company who searched for First Plus they were called Central Trust, they wrote back today trashed all my arguments bar one which was that I already had cover and was still sold the policy. They refuned me £4,600 ish which could go into my loan to pay it off or the other option because I am remortgagin to get rid of First Plus was £500 refund to First Plus and £4100 payment by cheque.

I would say go for it for the cost of a stamp you may as well give it a go!
    Hi

New here, but I have just sent a letter to First Plus and they have said that as we went through Central Capital then their is nothing that they can do.

Can you advise, shall I press First plus or try Central Capital.

    Thanks

  • I have just reclaimed PPI from Alliance & Leciester. I got back £173 after contacting them direct.
Took the link from Martin's weekly email and used the template to write my letter. After seeing It Pays To Watch and Martin said that they will say no I didn't expect any refund to happen straight away with any kind of fight on the bank's part.
The PPI was £34:67 a month for 60 months,so thank you Martin, and to anyone else thinking of writing a reclaim to their bank, well if i can do it.............

cheers for that how long do alliance and leicester take to reply back, is it the full 8 weeks?
  • What were you reclaiming: PPI on M&S Money Loan (2002-2007)
Who was the provider: M&S Money
How much did you get back: £2926.80
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Three letters

M&S Money finally sent me a letter, received today - one day before I said I would go to the FO - to say they would refund my rebates to the tune of nearly £3000. I am really pleased with this result. They said 'from checking our records we have still been unable to locate the call when the policy was added. We have threfore arranged to refund the rebates from the insurance'.
The cheque is to be sent under separate cover!!

I was prepared to go all the way to court on this as I was self-employed when the PPI was added (it said so clearly on my credit agreement form) yet I was not told that I would not be able to claim under 2 of the 4 categories, namely redundancy and unemployment.

    Keep going everyone....

    Hi

I got a loan from Nemo and they sent a letter to say it was originaly from a broker similar to central capital so i have started to go to the broker as they initially set up the loan, so i would say go to central capital and if you do end up going to the FOS they will prob look in to both companys for you
