Having trouble with reclaiming PPI I have 2 loans with Barclays. Sent off template letter to address on loan agreement. It's an address in dublin, have I sent letter to right place or should it have gone to my own bank address or somewhere else, as I have had no reply yet(6wks).
The best place to start is always with your local branch. For me, I opened my account at a branch in Derbyshire many moons ago, but I took the loan out at a branch in Lincolnshire (near to where I now live). I sent my first letter to the branch where I took the loan out, and received a prompt response within a week (a big fat 'NO') - but they then gave me the address to write to if I wasn't happy with their decision (a main office somewhere in London, I believe).
Hope this helps!0 -
Thank you very much
I have had a couple of consolidation loans with HSBC over the years and asked my branch for the details. After using your template and then a reminder a month later, I have received a letter upholding my complaint due to lack of information and received over £11,000 back which I have used to pay off my credit cards. I am now more determined more than ever to keep within budget.
Thanks again. It was definitely worth trying:jIf you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours
Thank you to everyone who posts. :A0 -
I've recently received a letter back about my Egg Loan PPI stating that it was my choice so they won't be refunding me. I am now passing the complaint on to the FOS as I was given 2 choices when I took out the loan (both containing PPI). It was sold to me very much as an 'all or nothing' and I was never given the option without. Any advice?
I took Egg to the FOS regarding a loan and received a letter from FOS last week saying that Egg are upholding the complaint and refunding all PPI payments plus 8% interest. My case was that the salesman pushed the PPI on me and didn't explain it thoroughly. I applied for the loan over the phone and they couldn't find the recording of the phonecall!!!
My advice is stick with it and make Egg pay!!!0 -
My partner has a loan with Lloyds TSB, he was mis sold a PPI because he is a contact worker and you cannot claim on these PPI'sif you don not work for more than 6 months with the same emplyer, I wrote using one of the templates and Gary also phone Lloyds and he has been given £6000, but this is to be taken off his loan although he would rather have had the money put into his current account. I am now looking into the rest of his financials to see what else I can do to save money, but we need a PPI for all of his outgoings that covers Contract workers, any help would be gratefully received0

Ok I contacted EGG about PPI added to a loan that was taken out a few years ago. It was my mother in law who took it out, we applied online and certinatly didnt take PPI, a few days later they called back and told her a few things had canged but that they would give it to her, it was very slightly more that what was stated online.
1 month before the loan was due to end i looked at the paperwork and noticed that they had made the loan over 3 1/2 years instead of the 3 that she asked for. In closer inspection i noticed that the PPI had been added. This was never mentioned on the call with her and it was the first that she heard of it. The agreement that she signed does have information on it but was never noticed
I sent EGG a letter asking for it back, it went through there normal process of saying that they where trying to find this telephone call, however in the end they said they couldnt find it but turned it down anyway.
I sent my complaint to FOS at the end of last year and just had this reply.

Is there any way I can appeal it, I know for certin that she never asked for it, and think its handy that they couldnt find the telephone call even though they have found other peoples who have been trying to get PPI back.
Whats my next step or is it dead in the water???0 -
Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone on this website as I have today been advised by HSBC that they are refunding me £2119.90 in PPI payments and interest due.
I took out a £12k graduate loan in Oct 2003 and have been paying aprox £35 a month for PPI. I fired off one letter to HSBC complaints department (using Martin's speciman letter) in Jan saying I was mis-sold because I didn't actually need the policy and today they told me that they have upheld my complaint and are paying off the loan and I will get a cheque for £802.
I am absolutely made up. Unfortunately I missed the bank charges reclaim (complaint was stayed pending High Court outcome) and this has been the first bank complaint I've ever taken up and it's been a great success so thanks again Martin!!!0 -

What were you reclaiming: PPI on credit card
Who was the provider: Halifax
How much did you get back: £1818.05
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After 2nd letter (Martin's templates)
Wrote using 1st template in December 2007 claiming mis-sold PPI as I had full sick pay, etc from my employers and wasn't asked any health questions or told it was optional. Halifax wrote to say they would deal with it within 8 weeks. Received BOGOFF letter at the end of january enclosing a copy of the original application form.
Sent 2nd template letter restating my claim quoting the Misrepresentation Act and asked them to reconsider or would go to FOS. I also disputed whether the signature on the application form agreeing to PPI was actually my signature. It certainly didn't look like it to me.
Received letter last week offering full refund of all premiums paid plus interest, without admitting liability, to be credited to my account (suits me fine).
Wrote back to them accepting the offer
Checked my account this morning to find £1818.05 had been retured as per their letter. (I actually worked it out to be about £1400, but not complaining).
Very pleased. Thanks to Martin & the team and all the posters whose stories of success made me get off my backside and actually claim what was mine.
To all those still awaiting a result, hang in there and keep at them. Your time will come!!!!!
