Well done mlucyminx, that is good news, and very interesting for me as I have two complaints with FOS about Ocean, they are looking at them as one complaint as one loan was used to pay off the other. Not long now I hope

good luck. like I said it took over a year and not read many posts about ocean finance so didnt know what to expect. but it just shows that perserverence pays xx

Some good news regarding my claim with Egg!

What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
    Who was the provider: Egg
How much did you get back: £7800
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One letter based on the template, investigation took 8 weeks.

My original post in the discussion thread:
Not sure if I have a case for reclaiming, here's the details:
I took out a loan with Egg by phone of just short of £22k in June 2004 with £5.5k of PPI added on top. The loan fully repaid an existing Egg loan and some other debts. I don't recall exactly what was discussed on the phone but I remember taking away the impression that I'd be much more likely to be accepted if I took out the PPI; I think they went away to work it out before calling me back. I definitely wasn't aware that insurance could be taken out from a company other than the lender.

Well, as you can see it’s worked out well, the sum has been applied to my outstanding balance, paying off about two thirds. My monthly payment has now gone down to from £500 to £180.

Thank you to Martin, Di and everyone who’s posted their stories – I’m sure I wouldn’t have followed it up without all the support on here.

    Thanks for that

I started the ball rolling in september last year and been with the FOS 10 months now, so I am hoping it will not be too long now before it is passed to an adjudicator

There are a few posting about Ocean now with some good news for the rest of us too.

Lets hope they pay up quick and don't keep you waiting

I received a letter back from HSBC exactly a week after I sent the first letter stating that a Regulated Complaints Officer is investigating the matters that I have raised and that I will receive a full response in four weeks (sometimes eight depending how far the investigation extends).

    Hopefully should hear something soon.
