    been bombarded by pms
That's actually very worrying and something that needs clamping down on. Instead of deleting your post (which has been quoted anyhow), you really should be reporting any users who "bombard" you with unsolicited pms offering to "help" with your PPI complaint.

Certainly, don't be tempted into paying anyone for such a "service".
  • I had a Next Directory from 1991 to 2013.
Throughout the 90's they used to automatically add PPI (they called it PPP) to the cost of the purchases on your account. Back then I thought it was a compulsory charge / interest.
Anyway, Next are now refunding this to customers (even if you have closed the account) via the insurance company that provided the policies.
It is extremely easy and they pay the redress quickly.
All you have to do is write to:
    PA(GI) Ltd
    Complaints Team
    PO Box 72690
    London
    E1W 9NP

    or telephone: 0203 819 7609

They write back to you in a few days and ask you to complete a short authorisation letter - it is very basic and just asks for previous addresses etc.
Once you have sent it off it will take around 6-8 weeks and they will send a letter with an offer and a breakdown of their calculations.

If you need to check with Next to find out if you had PPI on your Next Directory account you can phone: 0333 777 8180

    Its really easy :)

Did you ever get anywhere with Paymentshield?

Paymentshield do not sell directly to public. So, the answer to that will be no.

Paymentshield's product is also a good quality one. It is still available to buy today (unlike all the bad types of PPI).

  • Currently reclaiming loan PPI payments from A&L now Santander from 2005. I've got all the paperwork including bank statements etc, I've got proof I had it but I know there's more to it than that.
Today received a letter regarding investigating the complaint. They also sent an account details form requesting PPI policy / Loan account number; the form also requests current account details so they can transfer any payment electronically IF the complaint is upheld.

Am I right to assume this is a standard letter sent out to all claimants prior to a full investigation? Or wishful thinking, could this be a good omen?

Has anyone else had this experience and was your complaint upheld or not?

No sarky comment please, I don't want to have to put the caps lock on!

Just thought I'd post about an offer I've had from Santander this week. Its taken them about four months to go through the investigative process, but they've just offered me £1249.00. I had a Principles card in 1994, plus two Currys loans for white goods purchased in store, plus a Dixons loan for the same. All of these were in the 1990's. At the time I was working as a nurse in the NHS and so would have been covered for sick pay, redundancy etc. So pleased as I wasn't expecting anything! Thanks for the information and advice on this site.:)
  • Hi
We used Resolver the free PPI claim website and to date we've reclaimed a staggering £40,000 in PPI. That's right, no exaggeration. £40,000.00!! If we'd used a claims management firm imagine what they would've taken in fees. Use Resolver, it's quick and easy. We're still wrangling with TSB (we had mortgage, bank account and loans with them back in the 1980's). The old Bank Manager used to insist we had PPI with any loan or we wouldn't get the loan. But strangely TSB (or Lloyds TSB as they are now) can't find our accounts on their records. As it was so long ago and we've moved twice since then we can't find any account records (only an old savings account book). But we'll keep trying as we're sure there will be some more PPI to come back to us.
Capital One insisted because I had signed the application form and ticked the PPI box that I had willingly entered into the PPI agreement. But I knew that at least twice when things were tough I had called them and asked to cancel the PPI to make the monthly credit card bill easier. But I was refused. There were no records of those phonecalls (before calls were recorded) so I didn't win the PPI back but I did get £675.00 back as they'd earned more commission on my PPI insurance so that was something. My husband told me I should've gone to the Ombudsman about Capital One and fought for the PPI, which I probably should have but I got something back which was better than nothing. The moral of this tale is... Apply, claim and see what happens. It took so little time and the rewards for us have been huge. We spent a lot over the years keeping up an old house (yep a proper money pit), we had a lot of fun on holidays etc on credit cards. I freely admit that and we've always paid them off. But it was staggering to see exactly how much we got back from PPI on them. Wow we had a VERY good time!

Not that strange for 30-40 years ago and predating financial services regulation (1988) and insurance regulation (2005). When Lloyds introduced their computer systems in the late 90s, it only went back a period. From memory, I think it was around 1991. When they later integrated the TSB systems, they focused on open accounts/debts. Not those closed prior to merger.

It's a common issue where the lender has subsequently merged or been bought by another and systems changed. It makes finding things more difficult.

Still, 40k is a staggering amount. Bet that has made a difference now for you.
