No it isn't, it's very old news, multiple posts on here from people who have had reviews and got lucky with more money following prompting from the regulator, nothing needs to be done by individuals, the banks will contact if necessarySam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Hi
Just found out this morning that I am getting £1,145.67 refunded by Santander on a Debenhams card taken out in 1998.
They first of all refused to pay anything and sent me a copy of the agreement showing a ticked PPI box. I told them I was not working at the time and it would have been of no use to me.
They said they would look at the complaint again if I could prove I was not working when I took out the card ( was, and still am a Carer). I contacted HMRC and requested evidence of not working, sent evidence to Santander and got a result.:)0 -
Hi,
I received a letter from Santander yesterday saying my claim was being upheld for my flexible loan ppi from 2003. My loan amount was 6500 and I think I cancelled my ppi policy in 2007. The redress amount is £246. Santander are saying I only paid 100 pounds ppi over that period. That doesn't sound like a lot to me. My question is, is it worth complaining about the redress amount or do they usually get it correct?
Sorry if this has been asked before and thanks in advance!0 -
Well done Crumble on getting a pay out from Santander. Sorry I don't know the answer to your question but I am sure someone will give you an answer soon. I was just glad to hear of some more success from Santander0

The Bank can and will only refund PPI amounts that they have records of. It's also highly possible that you cancelled the PPI earlier than you think.0 -

With loans, the figure is normally correct. It is on credit cards with long histories that it can be an estimate. You can ask them to verify the figure as you believe it to be too low.
Did you repay the loan early? if yes, then a relatively pro-rata rebate would have been included in the settlement.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Rather an unexpected success!
A friend recently asked me how I had claimed PPI back from Natwest last year and as you can do a lot of it online now, and because hers was primarily Egg loans, I sent her the Barclaycard link. Now I have had a Barclaycard since 2002, and recently used it for the first time in years last year after moving house, to pay for new carpet and flooring. I was a little surprised on the first statement to see an Optional Protection Payment, which I immediately asked them to cancel.
Fast forward to three weeks ago, and I thought I may as well fill it out as well to see if anything doing, knowing that Barclaycard have been awkward in the past about postal applications - if my memory serves me right, this was one of those "You have been preselected...." letters.
A week later, I had a nice gentleman phone me to ask about my company sick pay policy at the time - luckily I still work for the same company so could be accurate. And then this weekend I got home to a letter upholding my complaint to the tune of £2,900!!!
Absolutely delighted!!!!!0 -
thought please as we care really stuck!
We have a policy (still live not sure why) paying monthly which we now know to be a term assurance for illness and redundancy taken in 2003 with a mortgage that was a new style back then such as the IF mortgages.
however up until 7 months ago we thought this payment was for an life insurance on the mortgage as you used to have to take cover.
We had no paperwork on this and our bank who this we found was taking payment initially said it was nothing to do with them and now say with a copy of a fax it was a policy taken through a financial advisor with them. 8 months to get this info! we placed a complaint of missold and they have refused the complaint! the policy would never have covered any redundancy amount on any mortgage we have ever taken so it would never have worked, also we took redundancy cover a few year later as we had no knowledge of any cover.
Financial Ombudsmen have given a reference but said because we sign the paperwork it wont probably be looked at ! at the time we signed alot of paperwork!
any advise if any one has succeeded with a term assurance refund?
Thanks0 -

Is it a term assurance or an MPPI policy? you use both terms.however up until 7 months ago we thought this payment was for an life insurance on the mortgage as you used to have to take cover.
So, is it not a term assurance?we placed a complaint of missold and they have refused the complaint!any advise if any one has succeeded with a term assurance refund?
It happens. However, it is rare. Generally, you have to be immortal or single (no spouse/partner) and have no children or anyone else living with you.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
