I m worried because Newday Ltd said in the initial refusal letter that they didn t have any record, going back over 6 years . So how can they work out how much they owe me?0

I would just like to thank everyone who posts here. I have read reread and read again what to do to put a complaint in and the result was success.
I have only had loans with the the last one finishing 8 years ago. I had no info but perhaps in my favour I still bank with them.
I gave them a phone and was told my loans started in 1998 and PPI was on them.
I answered all the questions and 4 weeks later offered £4700.
One question though tax has been taken off. Do I have to wait till the next tax year to claim this money back as already submitted tax return? I'm self employed and don't pay tax.
Thanks all once again and dealing with husband's loans.0 -
Just wanted to report success at reclaiming from Natwest from a loan from 1997. £2909 coming our way, very quick and easy process, I did have the account number but no information or reference numbers for the loan.0

After been refused a claim from Yorkshire bank in 2007, I chickened out and in 2011 went to a company.. They got me back over £2000 but took a large chunk. Last week I got another letter from the bank saying they had looked at my complaint again and had miscalculated and found other loans and were giving me a further £5000, enough to pay off my mortgage. Now I'm wondering if I was charged PPI on finance I took out on a car before 2004. I haven't a clue who the finance was with, all I know is the car showroom I got it from and is now owned by someone else. I've got no paper work at all so how do I find out if I was charged ?

Just so you know, the original claims co may ask for a cut of the £5,000.
If they do then you need to write to them as they cannot charge you for this ,they did not instigate the bank to look at the claim again.
To answer your question regarding car finance,as this was taken before regulation and you have no paperwork,I doubt the original company will have any either.
a successful claim (even if you paid PPI and it was mis sold) is highly unlikely.
Well done on your wins from Yorkshire bank.0 -
Just had £918 on a Lloyds TSB Credit Card , £1800 on 1 Lloyds TSB loan, and £718 back on another Lloyds TSB Loan that did not even have PPI on it but they decided to give me some money on it to end the matter, which is very confusing but i'm happy :j0

I recently received a letter from Barclays telling me that I could apply for miss-sold PPI bank charges. Well, it was a bit of an eye-opener - visited the MSE website for help and advice, and spent some time going through old (2000-2008) bank, credit card statements and loan agreements etc that I had put in the loft, sorted them and then contacted Barclaycard, Barclays, M&S, and Sainsbury's (now BOS). All have acknowledged my applications so I wait to hear...In the meantime, come what may, I am happy to know that people do get money back from added costs to financial arrangements that they could ill-afford at the time. Certainly in my case it contributed to am already anxious time in my life.0

PPI was not a bank charge, it was an insurance product to cover you if you were unable to pay back your loan or credit card payments.
Remember simply having PPI is a not a miss-sale, it will come down to the complaint reasons you provided, the strength of evidence and any failings they identify so good luckSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

As you are bankrupt, expect the Official Receiver to come knocking at some stage for those refunds you have received.
PPI redress is a pre-bankruptcy asset which should go to the OR for redistribution to former creditors you failed to pay...

@angcof - if you are a bankrupt and these are from before your bankruptcy it LEGALLY belongs to the OR, keeping it is an offence and you'll get in a world of trouble if you take the refund and don't inform the OR as it does not legally belong to you - you really need to tell the OR immediately

Plevin case = you were not miss-sold but there is a concern the commission between the lender and the sales person was higher than 50% which was the issue of Plevin, you would receive back the commission over 50% when it gets sortedSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
