  • Hi, I made a MASSIVE mistake by using a company who "cold called" me on the phone to make a claim for miss sold PPI. I paid a company called Maccaskill & Morse nearly £1000 upfront, they work along side another company called Go Claim Ltd ( I didn't realise this at the time of the phone call, I was passed from office to office during the phone call thinking they were offices in the same company building). I "won" the claim against NatWest and they paid out £1482. I then had to pay Go Claim Ltd 20%+vat. I ended up with £52 in my pocket! If only I had found this web site first!! If you can....DO IT YOURSELF!!!
Good luck to everyone and please don't do what I did.:(

    Hi all,

Spurred on by reading hundreds of posts in this thread, I have finally pulled my finger out and have approached several former lenders for redress.

I filled in an online form for Barclays last weekend on a loan from the end of 2003. I have since uncovered further information that I believe will support my claim (at the time I had 52 weeks sickness cover from work, 6 months redundancy, £30,000 equity in property and have since found details of a separate life assurance policy and a Paymentshield unemployment/income insurance policy I had and was paying for at the time).

The loan was for £19,400 over 84 months with an additional premium loan of £4,758.17 front loaded  (total payable PPI £6,189.96 over 84 months!).

Aside from the front-loading, I was also advised in-branch that this PPI was necessary to get the loan...

I have now found the original Agreement, and reading the paragraph 'Ending the Agreement or Barclayloan Protection' it states 'You may end this agreement at any time. If the Cash Loan, Premium Loan or Barclayloan Protection is ended then the whole agreement will end.'

From that, it makes it seem like I had no choice but to accept the PPI element - and it could also be deduced that the Barclayloan Protection was necessary as if I had wanted to cancel it at any point the entire balance would have been due. Should I add this to my complaint, and if so how best to word it?

    Hello

I had 3 Lloyds loans taken out between 1997-2000, and I believed I had PPI on all 3 but no longer had any documents.
Lloyds have agreed to payout over £1500 against the 2nd loan as they could verify the PPI on that loan but have not upheld my other complaints as they say they have no records to show PPI on these.
I'm pleased to accept the payout though disappointed none the less that the other complaints were not upheld, especially as the last loan was for the highest amount. I was also told on the phone by one of their staff, who called to verify my employment status at the time, that all 3 loans had PPI but now they say this was a mistake on the member of staffs part.
I did complain to their CEO about this and requested a copy of the conversation in question. They agreed to contact my local branch at the time to see if any other records were held as well as to supply a copy of the phone recording. However, they have not done either of these things and are just falling back on what information they have available to them via their loans department. I have done a DSAR request but am not really hopeful it will turn anything else up to help my case given how long ago the loans were taken out.
All in all, I found the response from the CEO's dept. very disappointing given what they said they would do and what they ended up not doing. But given the lack of any documentation, I know the FOS cannot help me. All I have is 3 account numbers!

I am in exactly the same position as you. Can you take a look at this thread of mine please and add anything to it you can.

  • I've successfully claimed PPI on a credit card, just took a couple of phone calls and a form to fill in. Great, cheque banked - nice Christmas present.
The reason it was missold was I didn't ask for it, couldn't have claimed on the insurance as self employed.

Looking at the offer letter the interest wasn't correct & it didn't go into any date detail of when the premium finished, so I called the bank. Surprised to discover in 2012 the PPI changed to PPC & the refund was only up to 2012.
So it looks like I've got to start the process again for PPC from 2012 to 2014. Has this happened to anyone else & can you forsee any problems?

    PPC?

I can't see anything will have been mis-sold to you as late as 2012, to be honest.

I agree, I'm in the process of finding out what's going on. Is PPI the same as PPC?

Also paying for fraud/ID insurance, I used to trust the bank would look after my interests. What a fool

It'll be interesting to hear why the Bank didn't refund this also as part of the original PPI complaint.
