PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

  • After a friend got back tens of thousands of pounds in PPI reclaim I tried my luck too. The trouble was, I threw away all old loan and credit card agreements. Fortunately I kept my very old credit report on file. I had NO IDEA if I had PPI on any of those loans, but I was sure I never asked for it. From the old credit report I contacted every single lender I had dealings with . I had NO account numbers on either loans/credit cards, but the lenders had everything on file and identified me.

All but one came back saying I didn't have PPI on the loan I had with them. My old mortgage company, Halifax contacted me on the phone. We had a chat. They went away, investigated, and I ended up £2400 richer for having a not asked for PPI on a mortgage I had with them for 2 years 8 years ago!

I had no mortgage number go to on. I had no paperwork to substantiate my claim. All I knew was that I never asked for it. Luckily for me, while redeeming the mortgage I drew their attention to a problem with their key facts sheet, so they knew I was right.

I would urge anybody to go for it. NO need for PPI reclaim companies. The form is easy to fill out.

    Thanks for replying.

raging that I cleared the loan earlier but they still were charging me ppi until the july

I didnt think I would get 2.5k back but was wondering if anybody could guessedimate what I might get back from 2.5k loan.

You would need to know what the PPI was and the interest on that and what rebate you got to get a rough idea.

can you claim PPI on morgs that have been paid up or not and what about endowment ploices the must fall under the same mis selling as not wroth what u are advised at start
  • We have had a successful complaint upheld by the FOS on a loan with Ocean Finance.

The PPI was front ended and is live with the loan.

A offer of redress was received yesterday and it seems 4.5k of the redress is needed to restructure the loan. With £5600 being paid back to us.

Ocean assured me that this is good practice in line with FOS guildlines.

I called the FOS yesterday and they said that only applies if we were in arrears with the loan which we are not.

    Does seem correct

If he loan is still running, they take the whole PPI amount off the loan balance, (this is the restructure ) this reduces the balance of the loan and your monthly payment goes down by the monthly PPI amount, make sure it does.

If the loan is settled, all the redress comes to you.

    :j:j well done.

Contact the claims department and see what they say.
  • I contacted Lloyds bank as id had some loans with them in the past and was always pushed to have ppi cover.

when i wrote to them to make a claim i was told that because the loans were old 1980s lloyds no longer had any records of them. ( they did seem to be able to confirm the loan account numbers though ) I was told that because there were no records there was some agreement with the ? goverment that such cases are apaid £1200. this is the amount i recieved per loan. I have since looked up on google and can find no reference to such an agreement or anything relating to a fixed £1200 have i been conned by Lloyds or is this actually true.

Got a bit impatient today and called bank of scotla to find out more about my ppi.

I got put through to thr clwims department who said they were dealing with my claim. They did say they can se my ppi premium was £160 but thats all thry can tell me at the moment as I have just lodged my claim.

I have no idea what this means to be fair. Can somebody explain.

Does it mean I am due omly £160 back plus whatever interest?
