It is 8% a month on the PPI monthly amount from the date the loan started to the date they pay you out, this is on a decreasing scale, every month nearer to the day they pay you then the less the 8% is.
The calcs will be correct, you do not need to work this out.

I recived a form out of the blue from Canada Square Operations and wasnt sure if this was all legit or not but after coming here and reading a few stories i decided to fill the form in and return. Having read some of the horror stories i wasnt sure what would happen...i received the form on 8 June, i returned on 19 June and they signed for my letter on 20 June. 5 days later i received a letter to say that i should hear from them within 4 weeks....to my surprise i received a letter on 5 July with an offer!! :j

Will be sending my acceptance recorded today so hopefully should have some money soon""" :D

I also receieved a letter from Canada Square. Sent off questionnaire and had letter back from them dated 21st June stated they are investigating. Interestingly this contained two account numbers! Not heard back from yet but fingers crossed - no idea that I had PPI so not even got a clue as to how much will be offered (if any!). Gave me the motivation to look through old accounts and now have claims in at Barclays (overdraft protection), Santander (Mothercare Card) and Capital One.

Posting again as nobody replied to me:

HSBC claimants: although the letters from HSBC inform that any settlements pay within 4 weeks, are most people finding this is the case? On average, how quickly are they paying the settlements out?
