PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

You complained about the PPI, that it wasn't suitable for you in some way, so they cancelled it.
If they haven't sent a letter with a breakdown or explanantion of how they are going to pay you, I don't think it has anything to do with the FOS ruling.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
I was sent a form to claim PPI by HSBC filled it and sent it back. Today i got a reply offering me £2,443.25, even though i had no details to give them.:money::j
Hi, I've had an offer from HSBC too and they said I may have to pay tax on the amount. Is that true? Also, do you know who can advise if what they are offering is the full amount?0 -
The tax, if you are a taxpayer is on the 8% figure, the bank may take this off before they give the redress, if they don't, then you need to inform HMRC.0

Just an enquiry, 2 years after i 1st asked black horse to look into my ppi claim( initially they turned it down saying it wasnt mis-sold, so passed onto FOS, 18 months later, they found in my favour and said i will receive an offer within 8 weeks) 7 weeks later got a letter from black horse saying they had cancelled my ppi and adjusted my remaining 4 payments and if i overpaid ppi they would refund within 14 days, jus wondered if that means they are paying everything back that i paid in ppi, was under the impression they would send me an offer, with 8% interest, is this a normal thing with black horse?
You will get the whole PPI back to you with the 8%.0 -
HSBC claimants: although the letters from HSBC inform that any settlements pay within 4 weeks, are most people finding this is the case? On average, how quickly are they paying the settlements out?0

After a long battle with barclaycard and going through the fos
I have today been told barclaycard will be making me an offer for the ppi I had on my card
Could any one tell me how much I might be owed I had the ppi from 1998 to 2009 the card was usually at or near it's limits first 4 years of around 1000 limit next 7 years around 4000 limit
If any one could advice a very vague amount that would be very kind thank you0 -
I am new to this Forum, so please be kind! I am posting because I need some assistance please. My claim involves Barclaycard too.
I have made a PPI claim on my Egg Card (now Barclaycard). This morning I received two letters from Barclaycard re: the same claim and credit card but both say too different things!
The first says they are unable to uphold my complaint as the policy was correctly sold and that I applied for the policy and card online and that they did not provide an advisory service and required me to positively confirm that I wished to purchase this policy during the online application and that they provided full terms and conditions of the policy and requested that I read them before submitting. This is a standard letter. The second says that having reviewed my complaint, they are not satisfied that the CRP policy was suitable for my needs and as result, they uphold my complaint. However, whilst they confirm that a policy was added to my account, it was cancelled within the thirty day cooling off period.
I telephoned the Barclaycard PPI call centre today and was put on hold whilst they found out why I was sent two conflicting letters.
I was then told that, having spoken to a manager, they see that there were two policies on the account, one had been sold correctly and the other mis-sold. However, the one that was mis-sold was cancelled within thirty days and there were no charges applied to my account and accordingly no refund applies. I asked for this to be made clear to me in a further letter as this is not stated on either of letter. I was told that no further letters will be sent out as these are there 'final response letters' and that I am able to refer the complaint to the FOS based on these letters.
Is it worth complaining? Having said that, I do not understand how my complaint can be upheld on one hand and then turned down on the other. One policy continued past the thirty days, or so the person from the call centre seemed to suggest.
Any opinions?
Thank you. Sorry for the long post!0 -
The rejection probably came form the Egg side of the card, the other from Barclaycard. You can send your complaint for the first one to the FOS if you like, but if you applied online for the Egg card, don't get your hopes up because you bought it, it wasn't sold to you.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Just want to say a massive thank you for your advice. I've had several loans with Yorkshire Bank over the years, and have just reclaimed the PPI from 4 of them. One set of letters to the bank with a copy of the original agreements. One letter back from the bank apologising, and less than two weeks later, an offer of more than £8,000.
So simple. Why didn't I do it before??
Thanks again.

Claim: Mis-sold PPI (known as Payment Care)
Provider: Black Horse Car Finance
After spending months reading this thread and similar ones, i decided that the time had come to reclaim back what i shouldn't have paid in the first place. I had lost the majority of my paperwork through flood damage but was sure i had seen payment care mentioned on my last annual statement. I filled out the forms and sent it off. Black Horse sent a letter within a couple of weeks to say that I had not had any PPI on my finance package. I was so sure i had that i spent hours trawling through paperwork to find any surviving car finance documents and finally found one that had a policy number on it. I sent this off and within a week received a call from them asking some questions about work benefits, savings etc. I had an excellent work package including 6 months full sick pay, good redundancy package and savings in a personal account. I also remember clearly telling the salesperson that i had no need for PPI/Payment Care. So this afternoon, i got home from work and 3 weeks after the phone call, i had a letter waiting for me detailing my PPI refund of £1320.19. I'm absolutely delighted and glad i persevered with looking for a policy number. The money will help with paying off some debts and getting prepared for baby number 2.
(Breakdown: premiums refund : £1118.74
Interest at 8% £251.81
tax to be deducted £50 .... total of £1320.19 )0
