What were you reclaiming: 1 PPI claim from BH
Who was the provider: Black Horse
How much did you get back: £6500
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Out of the blue,Black Horse wrote to me saying I may have been mis sold PPI. Asked me to complete and return form.
And then write your brief reclaim tale: Black horse being proactive and sent me claim form with account number. I filled in form at beginning of November and received upheld letter at end of December. Mid January told signature didn't match and forwarded further proof. Cheque arrived today.
    :T:TCongratulations John. Well done:beer:

    Enjoy your money:D
  • Thank you! Thank you!
I had PPI cover on my Halifax credit card which started back in the early 1990's. In 1998, after the PPI mis-selling issue was highlighted, I applied to have the money replayed but was turned down by Halifax and they stated that I has ticked the PPI box on my application.
It was only after the latest release of funds to cover the mis-selling that I thought I should try again - with great success.
I had previously worked out that I had actually paid out around £300 in PPI cover, as I didn't normally use my credit card much.
I completed the form provided on the MSE website and within 6 weeks I had received an 'offer' to settle of £848. The cheque arrived within days.

A great result - made easy with he guidance and templates on MSE.
  • So happy! :j
MBNA have agreed to send me a cheque for £536 from PPI on a credit card I used in the early 2000's. I just completed the downloaded form from MSE, wrote a covering letter back in January and received my reply yesterday.
I didn't even know you could claim back PPI on credit cards until reading this site. Thank you everyone! Your successes gave me the confidence to try. :T Just waiting on hubby's MBNA card to be as successful... :D
  • Shop Direct upheld my claim (£1,400), two weeks after I should have received a chq they said it had been posted weeks ago and would issue another one. That was 3 weeks ago. I phoned last thursday to be told it had been sent 2nd class. Still no chq on Tuesday so phoned again to be told it could take 7 - 10 days from issue as it had to go to Peterborough for posting.... I am beginning to believe I will never receive my chq. Has anyone else had experience of shop direct failing to send out payment?

I phoned Natwest's PPI customer helpline as I'd had 2 loans from them that were linked and that dated back to December 2005. I wasn't aware that I'd been paying PPI and that I have a chronic medical condition , if I had known about the PPI, made it an unsuitable product for me.

I was able to make my complaint on the phone they took the information down. I received a text message and letter to confirm that they'd received my complaint and were looking into it. Today I received a letter offering me over £11k as a gesture of goodwill!!!!

The whole process took just over a week I was expecting it to take forever so I'm pleased.

Thanks for all the information MSE next on my list are Capital One and Santander formally GE Money or something like that!!

Do realise that the quick turnaround is due to there being no investigation of your complaint, hence it being a "goodwill" payout. In coming to their decision, they haven't considered your stated concerns at all

So do also be aware that this success will have no bearing on your subsequent claims with other lenders.

Thanks for your words of caution although from the letter they state they have conducted an investigation. `To check that you (i.e. me) were made aware of how the policy worked and to confirm you (i.e. me) were given all the information you needed to make an informed decision to proceed with it.'

To be honest I'm not that fussed as to the extent of their investigation. However, I hope this gives others an insight into how easy it might be for them to get their money back if their circumstances were like mine at the time they were mis-sold PPI.
  • from the letter they state they have conducted an investigation.
The fact that it's a "goodwill" offer, as well as the speedy turnaround, shows that there would have been no investigation at all I'm afraid.

Your circumstances at the time haven't been considered at all, you've received an auto-payout!

    Enjoy your redress!:T
