Hi, I am waiting for the financial ombudsman to make their assessment decision but have been waiting over 14 months now. I have rung them and they say they are still waiting for it to be assessed. Can anyone please tell me how long this process normally takes. Thank you x0

Back in Nov 2012 mbna turned down my ppi claim which baffled me as my wife and I applied together but for separate cards and her Liam was paid out and mine refused, as a result I completed the paperwork for the ombudsman, today they have written a very standard letter confirmin MBNA will make an offer as a gesture of good will and with no admission to liability - does anyone know what amours we could be talking would it be a small offer of saying 50.00 to keep my quiet or are we potentially looking at a more realistic figure for the term of the ppi, please if anyone can help me understand I'd be very grateful0

i started a claim 21 months ago.
i cant seem to bring things to an end. i was promised a cheque by end of january, and another three weeks ago. still nothing.
the only information i did get was that barclays bank have a very special department to deal with the ombudsman complaints.
its so special no one can ommunicate with it. not even the financail ombudsman. this seems a bit wrong to me.i feel quite desperate and have no idea what to do now.:(0 -
Hi All,
Just thought I'd share my success story. Had no paper work for Egg loan (paid off 2006) apart from one letter with ref number of loan. Thought I would give it a go so used the template letter on this site to get the info of my loan, this was October 2012, received back letter from Egg mid Oct to say I would need to contact Moorgate as they now held details, before I could send letter to Moorgate I received questionnaire from Egg, from then timeline:
Sent back Questionnaire: Beginning November
Received Complaint letter: 16th November
Complaint upheld/Offer Letter: 6th December (£3500)
Acceptance sent by me: 12th December
Acknowledgement of Acceptance: 2nd January (20 working days for cheque)
Letter to say "due to unforeseen complications" cheque cancelled, cheque re-ordered 20 working days from then: 5th February
Cheque arrived: Today 21st Feb
BIG Thank-you Money Savings Expert, never would have done it if I hadn't found your site and realised how easy it was to start the process!0 -
Between myself and my partner we have so far recieved £13,000 back in PPI charges.
All our debts are with a DMP and so most have been sold on so we had no information etc.
We decided to fill in the questionnaire with as much detail as possible and send them off to everyone. Some have come back saying we didnt have PPI but so far 3 have come back amounting to £13,000.
We are no in a great position to offer to pay a % to settle our debts.
Its worth a try even if you dont have much info.0 -
Hello,
I have only signed up to this account today and so please be gentle with me for resurrecting such an old thread.
I have an old Santander account which dates back to 2002. I have provided as much info as possible but I received a letter back today basically telling me I haven't given them enough info and in accordance with section 7(3) of the data protection act 1998 Santander uk plc is not obliged to comply with your request unless you have provided enough information that enables them to locate the data subject and the account data you seek.
Is it worth persisting with this even though this claim as it is an account which is now 11 years old and therefore does not fit in with the 6 year period they are talking about. I am sure I am eligable for the claim but I do not have anymore information.
Your thoughts are appreciated...
p.s. where are the PPI forms on this site which you all speak so highly of?
Thanks in advance...
Johnny!0 -
Shame you didn't find this site sooner, Im sure the company was great but everything you need to do your own claim is right here on Money Saving's expert, all it cost me was the price of a stamp and I got to keep all of the money paid back to me, sorry if that sounds patronising but I think most people don't realise how little effort it takes, in fact a friend of mine hasn't even had to fill anything in, just made a phone call to his bank.
