PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

What were you reclaiming: Loan
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: £900
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Letter
I knew that I had PPI on a loan I took out in 2008 - When the loan was offered the PPI was automatically added to the repayment premium and the person at the bank said I 'needed' it if I was going to have the loan. I was off work on maternity leave and we had just moved into a house which desperately needed carpets so I didn't question it, just assumed that without it we wouldn't be allowed the loan. When I looked at the paperwork later I saw that it said on it that I had a medical condition that would prevent me from making a claim for a minimum of 12 months (maybe because I was on maternity leave - I certainly had no real medical condition)
Anyway, I downloaded a form from Lloyds website, filled it in and sent it late December 2012. I didn't hear anything from them, not even a letter of acknowledgment, until this week when I received an offer. I expected around £600 as this was the ppi premium included in the loan but they have offered £900 - something to do with re-financing the loan a couple of years ago? I should receive payment in 28 days :j0 -

£12.5k from Barclaycard. I did it all myself. I have had to go to the FOS for Yorkshire Visa (despite near identical circumstances to Barclaycard, guess they are more defensive) and GE Money Lending.
Thanks to this site a total of £17k refunded.0 -
Type of PPI: Reclaiming PPI on previous mortgage.
Provider : Santander
Amount recovered: £6500
My husband took out a mortgage with Santander years ago, before we got married. I found out he had PPI when we recently repaid this mortgage a couple of years early.
I suggested reclaiming and told him we had nothing to lose. I then downloaded a form from MSE, completed it and sent it off (I don’t think I even did a covering letter!). We received a letter from Santander with a further (almost identical!) form to complete and a few weeks later received their offer of the money. It only took two forms and a couple of hours of our time before we received the offer letter.
My husband says he would never have tried to reclaim if I hadn't pushed him and completed the forms on his behalf so the money it is all MINE! We haven't had a holiday for a few years so guess what I'm looking at now!0 -

Having sent off a covering letter and the FoS quesionnairre just over a fortnight ago to Canada Square Operations I have this morning received both the acknowledgement of my complaint and in a separate letter notification of an upheld claim and an offer for £6300 by cheque which I expect to receive in the next couple of months.
Pretty amazed with the fast response and a bit shocked at it all considering the fact that I was not even going to do this till I read your site as I had not even realised I had PPI till this encouraged me to dig out some of the old paperwork.
A definite success!
Being in a similar situation with a paid up loan (& extension) from Egg, what where the claim reasons you used for your successful claim, I see various possibilities from my own situation but it would be useful to know which elements clinched it for you :T

Hi I hope someone can give me a bit of advice. RBS are unable to uphold my claim.
This was a credit card with Ulster bank taken out in May 2002 with ppi attached. I cancelled the ppi October 2004 Card was closed March 2007. They are telling me that all their PPI are provided on a non-advised basis. They are saying that their staff are trained to ensure that their customers are aware that the credit card and PPI are separate products. I also had alternative cover in place and generous package from employer. Is this the end of the line for me.
1st claim I've tried, a bit wary about trying others now. I was sure I took this card out in Bank. I stopped PPI when I realized that I had it, and was struggling with monthly payments Of nearly £300.0 -

You will have to make your own complaints according to your circumstances, if you allude ot anything that can be disproved your complaint will be rejected.
Companies don't say why a complaint was successful anyway.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
