PS. Just discovered this forum a couple of days ago & am absolutely mesmerised by it, I'm so impressed by how helpful people want to be.[/QUOTE]
I start to get the shakes if I've been away from the site for too long! Completely addictive. Think I need to get a life!0 -
Sent off a claim re MBNA credit card taken out in 1998. Main complaint was I had pre-existing asthma (severe, required hospital in & outpatient treatment many times). MBNA asked for letter from GP or hospital confirming this and that it covered policy start date. A friend who actually does Ppi reclaims for a living, told me it was an unreasonable request & I should refuse & contact FOS for advice. However, I did not take this advice as I had no problem doing so as it was all true. So got letter from GP which did indeed confirm what I'd said on the form & sent off to MBNA. My question is have I done the right thing, and is the fact they have asked for this a good or bad sign in relation to my chances of success.

You certainly did the right thing, hopefully they will look at this and uphold the claim.0 -
Have finally lost patience with Barclays and emailed CEO with the comedy of errors so far....
initial claim sent on 9th August rejected on the grounds no PPI on account, I reminded them I had sent a statement in with the complaint, turns out they had scanned my statement onto someones else's account. Was told it would be reopened, it wasn't, called again yes we will reopen it, called again not reopened, called again guess what (I know you are seeing a theme by now :rotfl:) not reopened, finally reopened on the 25th Oct. Called today for an update to be told a letter is in the post telling me that they have assigned someone to look at it and there is no timescale!!!
Have given CEO until close of business on Monday to reply to my email, if no reply then will presume failings in the company go right to the top!!!
Will keep you posted on any/if any reply
whooo hooo finally got a result, after the email I was promised a resolution by 30th Nov, called today to be told they have upheld my complaint and were actually working on what I was owed manually (which i was told was more accurate) and if I called on Monday they should have an offer for me but I will have to wait for the letter to accept. Barclays letters are notorious for not arriving or taking weeks to arrive so won't hold my breath on a quick payout but am pleased that they have finally resolved the matter. good luck to all still waiting and thank you once again Martin you are a legend :money::money:0 -
My issue with Barclays has come through the ombudsman. They advised me to go to Barclays after writing a letter to them upholding my complaint. Barclays told me to go away essentially as it was the ombudsman who I should deal with only. Who isn't telling the truth here?!0

Once a complaint goes to the FOS then you direct your communications via the FOS and not with the firm.
You would normally only go to the FOS if you disagree with the decision from the firm.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi Folk,
I cancelled all my PPI in 2005 when I realised it was a waste of money. So I hadn't really been bothered to claim. Then six months ago, I needed a bit of extra cash, so thought, let's look at the forms on MSE. Far too complicated a process, didn't bother.
Well, actually cash is really tight and I was looking for some paperwork when I came across a handful of un-shredded MBNA bills from January - June 2000 (yes - twelve years old!), with £30-£50 a month PPI charges showing. Well, even a few hundred would be worth a punt. Looked back on MSE, decided to skip some of the steps and just went straight for sending the questionnaire to MBNA, along with copies of the bills - an hour's work tops, as mostly I ticked "don't know" (easy work for these claims companies!). I sent the questionnaires to MBNA and also to Barclaycard, as I found some same-vintage bills for them too. That was 11th November 2012.
Today (30th November) I got a cheque from MBNA for £3975!!!!!!! 19 days. Top marks to MBNA. Kick up the bum to me. looking forward to Barclaycard's response - they have 'acknowledged my letter'.0 -
I had received texts/phone calls from companies saying they could help me claim back PPI. Have used MSE before re: bank charges, and checked out the site again for PPI. One call to RBS was all it took.....and 3 (yes 3!) weeks later received a bunch of letters offering me £19,000+! I'm in shock!!0

Hooray! A further £2755 offered by M&S Money today, bringing my total reclaimed to a truly massive £39,000, all done with templates from this site, and with no "help" from a claims firm!. Thank you thank you thank you !0

I was contacted by NR & got £5400 from them in the summer.
This gave me the inclination to try for some other loans, but I couldn`t be bothered to fill out the forms! I contacted a company who only wanted 20%, but they sent me the forms I couldn`t be bothered to fill out!
I filled them out, ignoring the PPI company - I coloured out their details & sent em off.
The first reply is from RBS, stating that a loan with a closure date of 2004, is going to provide me with £2400 back!
Just wanted to say that these claim companies are not doing anything special for their monies, you still have to do the work & that just because somethings over the 6 yrs, if you have details then its worth a try.Living debt free, since Sept 08 & Dec 10 :wall:
