Just a quick lesson to you all - having read all about these claims I decided to have a go. I had taken out a loan with HFC in 1998, which was about £10k to clear all credit cards. This loan came with a cheque book, and about 4 years later I added to the loan (or topped it up towards the upper limit). Each month I paid an element of interest, and element of capital and a PPI premium.
I am still paying it back, but thought that because it was more than 6 years old couldn't do anything. I read that this wasn't the case so decided to claim. At that time I was approached by a PPI company so decided to use them as I felt too busy to spend the time (YES I KNOW!!!) - they weren't interested because the start was too far back and the person on the end of the phone said that wouldn't be claimable.
So following your easy steps I went through the claim procedure and have just received HFC's offer - £32+k!!!!!

It took a little time to fill out the form, and they wrote back to advise that due to the number of claims things would take a few weeks, but then contacted me with the offer after about 4 weeks.

Unbelieveable!! And this is after they settle the last £3k of the loan too!

Take this lesson folks - it is easy to claim, it doesn't take time, and YOU DON'T NEED A CLAIM FIRM!

Hi Folks, just an update HFC paid the money direct into my bank about a week ago!

Well done! My Barclays loan was also taken out in 1998, and I received letter of apology, breakdown of how they arrived at refund figure, and £3190 cheque, all in the one envelope last week. Seven weeks start to finish.

Just shows that you shouldn't be put off complaining just because your loan is from pre-2005. (Still battling with two companies for loans with mis-sold PPI from 1992 and 1993, though - a bit like ploughing through treacle but I'm not giving up yet).:)
• Received my cheque today.

Just under £4000 for a loan I took out in 2007 which was brokered by Ocean.

Very happy will make for a nice Christmas :j

Used the templates on here and started out at the end of August so around three months to reach a resolution and receive the cheque.

They kept me informed all the way and the cheque came after 5 weeks instead of 4.

• Reclaiming PPI from a car loan.
Provider: HFC Bank
Received: £2,002.96 (Woo hoo!)
Got it back after a phone call.

I went back through my records and realised I had been paying needless PPI on several cards/loans I have had over the last 13 years. I made some phone calls and made complaints over the phone. My first reply arrived today from HFC bank making me an offer of £2002.96! Woo hoo! :money::A

I'm getting very worried that my cheque will not arrive.

I received a letter from Canada Square Operations (Registered Office City Group) on the 02/10/2012 for an offer,I accepted the offer signed it and returned it to Canada Square Operations (formerly known as Egg Banking) on the 04/10/2012.

It is now the 26/11/2012 and I have still not received my Cheque. On the letter sent to me it talks about sending me a cheque within 15 working days. This is obviously not within 15 working days. Its been 53 days or 1 month 22 days since I sent of the acceptance letter.

I have had many sleepless night worrying about if I will ever get my money.

No telephone number is provided on the letter sent out from Canada Square Operations.

I have tried phoning 01452 828010, the lady on the line gave me an email to contact crt.pleaseassist@citigroup.com

I have also sent an email to simon2.cooper@citi.com.

I have not had any response as of yet!

I'm finding this quite stressful i must say. Thats probably what they want people to be, so they give up?

Will let you know what happens.
I am in the same position with Canada Square ,(Egg) , mine was sent off 2 weeks ago, waiting on £1400.00, I will let you know if it appears.
• Got to say I'm so pleased I decided to give this a go. Filled in the template letters and sent to two old accounts I had 10+ years ago. Didnt even know the account numbers.
Lloyds came back and said without further details they couldnt help.
However Canada Square Operations (looking after old Egg customers) reported on 3 x loans / cards I'd had from them in the past and advised I was due £800!
Not bad for a 30 minute stint of admin

Thanks MSE!!
• Sent off a claim re MBNA credit card taken out in 1998. Main complaint was I had pre-existing asthma (severe, required hospital in & outpatient treatment many times). MBNA asked for letter from GP or hospital confirming this and that it covered policy start date. A friend who actually does Ppi reclaims for a living, told me it was an unreasonable request & I should refuse & contact FOS for advice. However, I did not take this advice as I had no problem doing so as it was all true. So got letter from GP which did indeed confirm what I'd said on the form & sent off to MBNA. My question is have I done the right thing, and is the fact they have asked for this a good or bad sign in relation to my chances of success.

PS. Just discovered this forum a couple of days ago & am absolutely mesmerised by it, I'm so impressed by how helpful people want to be.
