Reclaiming PPI from Capital One Secured loan
Over the moon with an offer of £9957.73
Got the offer after 2nd letter after initial rejection.
We had got in a bad place financially mainly with credit card debt, took out a secured loan via Capital One.
Was sold PPI added to loan, after just over a year, with help from family was able to repay loan albeit with early settlement penalties, which left a nasty taste.
After reading Martin's advice and using template letter I attempted to reclaim PPI.
Capital One initially rejected saying we were fully informed and product was not mis sold, I replied with second letter stating I still felt we had been treated unfairly and today recieved an offer of settlement of £9957.73
Fantastic thanks so much Martin!!!

Hi Thanks for your post
I dont know the exact date the FOS received my complaint but it was around the middle of March 2008. I got a letter dated 10th March 09 from the adjudicator to inform me he was now investigating my complaint then on the 13th March I got another letter confirming that my complaint had been upheld and Welcome have by the 26th March to reply.
My reason for miss selling is that during signing my loan agreement I felt pressured by the salesmen into taking out the PPI and fet I really didn't really feel I had any option. The PPI was just added to my loan in one lump sum.
Hi,
Just wondered if there was any news on this yet??

Hi guys
Just a quick note to say I just had a letter from Halifax after claiming about being missold PPI on my credit card (not being asked about prior health conditions, or fully explaining it), saying they are going to send me a cheque to 'return me to the position I would've been in had I never taken PPI', wooo!!!
They haven't confirmed about yet, but said cheque will come within a month. And all it took was 1 letter!! I used Martin's template, but amended it slightly, and it seems to have done the job. Thanks Martin!
Still waiting to hear from them RE giving me a list of unfair charges (going overdrawn, late payments, etc), but have had that letter acknowledged as of yesterday.
Can't believe how easy it has been with the Halifax PPI claim, and how quickly they got back to me with the offer! (about 3 weeks)
Anyone else reclaimed succesfully from them that can tell me how long their cheque took? Could really do with that cash!!Debt at 'ephiphany': £13,500 (March 1st)
Money made from ebay 2009: £130 (£600 2008)
Money made so far in 2009 from Mystery Shopping: £0 (£200 2008)
***1st March 2009 - begun claims from Halifax, Capital One and Arcadia RE unfair charges and missold PPI... Fingers crossed!!0 -
