My first PPI win - Yay!

£3.5k from RBS for a Direct Line loan taken out in 2003. Took 7.5 weeks from my initial claim letter to receiving this offer.

Thank you MSE and everyone here for your advice and encouragement.

  • First Win for me, £3,585 from Barclaycard.

Thank you for all your advice

Capital One are messing me about, sent me 2 letters, with different account numbers, One declining me and the other telling me that they are looking into it!

    Again thank you!
  • Hi,

Had anyone had any luck claiming back PPI from a DCA? I mean when a loan was passed to a DCA part way through, thus terminating the agreement with the bank. My bank only want to refund the PPI that I paid until the loan was passed to the DCA!!

    Thanks

I'd be interested in the answer to this as well, as I am in the same situation with most of my claims.

Today I got the 8th letter from Barclays with the same reference on, in the space of 6 weeks, saying the same thing (We are looking into your concerns etc). Is this a delaying tactic? ie. they've contacted me within 8 weeks - sort of ....
I incurred the debt, I repaid the debt - all of it!:o DMP started with CCCS 20/07/2007 Was £32,735. Paid off all my creditors (June 2013) 7 yrs ahead of original DFD.
    PPI claims won against Barclays x 2/ Egg x 1/ LV x . PPI claims rejected and then upheld Barclays/Egg x 2

Hi, I'm in the process of trying to reclaim PPI from RBS but I don't see many mentions of them on here (haven't read all posts tho). Anyone on here had any success?? I took out my first loan back in 2000 and have refinanced four times. I'm hoping and praying I'm successful as I could really do with the cash!!

    Hi Jrork
I've had success with RBS one loan re financed had 3 offers due to this in approx 8 week money paid back into account once acceptance returned 3 for loans one for interest 4 payments in total very quickly about a week, got the money before the text they sent saying they had received my acceptance
  • Thanks to Money Saving Expert I am now waiting for a cheque from Halifax for £5,290.54 . So chuffed! At several points along the way I didn't think for one minute I would get anything back. My loan dated back to 2004 and in 2006 I had a debt management plan set up to repay mine and my partners debts which had completely spiralled out of control after my partner lost his job. Because of the debt management plan I was unsure whether the bank would pay me anything back but I'm very pleased to say after waiting the full 8 weeks, to the day, that I'm now in the process of waiting for a cheque to arrive within the next 28 days.:o I have been putting off making a claim for PPI for a while now (approx 2 years) because I was worried I might be claiming for something I weren't entitled too, plus having the time to fill in a load of forms and dig out old paperwork. After talking to a few people at work who've recently received back their PPI claims, one of which through a claims handling company I thought I'd have a try myself. My colleague advised me to do it myself as she had to sacrifice almost 1/3 of her total claim for the company to quite simply relay the information from her to the bank. I then went onto moneysavingexpert.com and went from there. I've been trying to urge my partner into claiming his back too and as I now have proof it can be done and quite easily too, we sat down together today and in less than a couple of hours have filled in 3 questionnaires to submit to the relevant banks. Will post tomorrow so fingers crossed we get the same result again:rotfl:Good luck to all those making claims for PPI, hope you get the same result as I did and I'll keep you posted with the new claims

capital one though have taken their time, we had 1 letter after about 3 weeks saying they they were dealing with it, then about 2-3 weeks later another letter saying his signature didn't match their records so could we provide copies of either passport or driving license (which we did and posted back the very next day) that was about 5 weeks ago now and still nothing. my partner said he will try ringing them next week so hopefully hear back very soon.

has anyone else had problems with capital one?

anyway thanks agin for all advice

Hi, Capital One did exactly the same thing to me. Told me my signature didn't match then told me to ignore this letter as they verified my ID over the phone and said that my complaint would be worked on that day. They then turned me down stating I had requested PPI and they never pre-ticked PPI sections on forms as they are a reputable company (even though they've been fined so not that reputable!). They sent me a copy of my agreement with an X next to the PPI section and a tick at the signature section for the card and another tick at the signature section for the PPI. The ticks and X were added by them! Not sure how that means I requested PPI but there you go!

Will now be making a complaint to FOS.

I've read many times about them writing to people stating signatures don't match so think this is just a delaying tactic they are using!
    Success so far:

Bank charges refund plus interest: over £6000 :j
Mortgage PPI refund plus interest: over £9000 :j

    First win today..
Telephoned Santander as there 8 weeks was up today.. They told me a final response letter had been sent out today.
The nice man on the phone took time to read it out to me and will be refunded premiums to date of £2130.0 and the loan will be restructured to how it should have been without the PPI.

He also advised me to fax back my acceptance letter and have it paid into the bank and not as a cheque.. this will speed up the payment :T

No mention of interest or compensation but I,m more than happy just to get my premiums back.

To anyone who hasn't claimed yet DO IT NOW, also DO IT YOURSLEF..
