hope you can maybe help, just recieved a letter from halifax stating that they do not uphold my PPI claim as i was sold PPI and was aware of it.
they have quoted cerdit agreements etc that they have checked and basiclally told me to do one.
can i request all the information from them that they used to come to this decison or is it just easoer to go to FOS?
any help is much appreciated.:(
Was this a Credit card or loan?.0 -
No T&C's were presented for PPI on its own and I assumed the T&C's were for the card.
I feel the website was not clear and was designed to encourage me to take PPI and not give me any view that it was optional and other products were available. There was not enough information given for me to make an informed decision.0 -
:j:j:j:j:j Amazing wins this week for people :T:T:T congrats to each and everyone of you _party__party_0

Hi all,
Apologies if this has been answered before. Thankfully I found buried in a shoebox my original documentation I had for a loan I had with NatWest taken out in 2004 which had the PPI details. I sent this off along with the questionnaire about three weeks ago and received a confirmation letter from them yesterday so I guess its a waiting game now.
My question relates to a credit card that I had with Virgin which had PPI attached for a few years until the PPI was eventually cancelled. I have old statements which shows the PPI was being paid monthly but I can't remember when I originally took out the card. Would I need to send off for that information using the template letter or would a copy of a statement along with the questionnaire suffice?
Thanks in advance and well done on a great forum,

Couldn't have gone any easier.
I phoned the Barclaycard helpline in January and never even filled out a single piece of paperwork, they took care of it all.
Although outside of the guideline timeframe I patiently left it with them.
In less than four months I was made an offer of over £9000.
Accepted their offer last week and am just waiting for the transfer.
A big thank you to BC.0 -

Blackhorse
£12,828. :T
This arose from one letter and a questionnaire being filled in.
They agreed to look at our current loan and the two earlier ones that had been refinanced. I didn't expect to get anything but thought I would just try.
So just do it!
Hi mickymonney,
Congratulations on your win:beer:
Would you mind telling me how long did take for you to get your decision please, as I have complaints in with Blackhorse at the moment.:)0 -

Thanks Amersall, greatly appreciated, will let you guys know how I get on with them.
I had been dubious about getting anything back but a workmate has just had payments from both Egg and Barclays for loans he had and no issues. Fingers crossed I don't have to do a runaround with mine.0 -
just got a nice letter from Beneficial offering £243.44 not as much as some on here but nice all the same:T0

First Post been lerking for a while reading up on all the ppi stuff
Awesome Site Cant thankyou enough for all your help
Thought the least I could do is post up how my claim went :j:j:j
Had a loan with natwest back in 2004 which had ppi then that loan got consolidated into another loan in about 2006 which also had ppi on to begin with but I cancelled that shortly after getting the loan
Didnt think I was eligible to claim when all the ppi stuff first kicked off as from what I understood from reading into it was you where only able to claim if you were self employed or disabled, but that was when it first got into the press.
Then after seeing all the stuff recently about the banks having to write to people and all the stats of like 90% of people miss sold I popped on money saving expert to see whats what read these forums downloaded the complaint form and set about filling it in and got my mrs to do the same as she had a previous loan with lloyds
We dug out all our paper work thankfully we both kept all the original documents
God knows why but my 2004 loan had that I was self employed on it as occupation even tho I wasnt, that kind of spurred me on thinking ive more of a chance
Also even though it was ages ago (2004) I remember when applying for the loan in branch when the chap selling me the loan was tryin to push for the ppi cover I was against the idea I kept telling him I dont want it and "conveniently" just then a dolly bird working for the bank popped in the room to get something from a draw, the guy then asks her about how great the loan insurance was and for her to tell me how it payed out for her when she was ill which she did and preached its praises both of them hailing this insurance as some sort of wonder cover eventually got me to cave in and sign up for it
Now with the benefit of hind sight and age and knowing the evils of banks ppi selling I feel a bit stupid for caving but I was 23 then and I think even now it takes some nerve to tell 2 people "no thanks I dont want it" when they are right next to you in a small room insisting you get it
When Filling out the complaint form I listed this "double team" selling in addition to the form having me down as self employed I also attached a copy of the loan details as it was an older loan, just covering all bases really so they would have no excuses
On the mrs complaint form she listed she didnt really want it at the time and that as she works for the nhs she would be have sick pay in the even of her being ill / have redundancy money if she was sacked
We both put family would assist us if we needed money and that at the time we where both living with our respective parents
I know alot of the extra reasoning / info might not have been needed but like I said we where covering all the bases
Initially I only complained about my first loan wanted to see how that went first and I didnt think there was much I would get from the second loan as I cancelled the ppi early on anyway
The Mrs complained about 2 loans with lloyds one paid and one still current (about 2 years in I think)
Right my results:
Sent the forms off 08/03/12 in the post office
The Mrs got hers first oddly she just got £2000 put into the bank one day out of the blue, about 5-6 weeks after complaining didn't get a letter explaining what was what until about 10 days after that, she never had the option to accept their offer and even though she still has a current loan with them they didnt take it off the loan just cold hard cash in the bank :j:j:j
I can only assume its because if she pays her loan off early theres a charge (I think)
I got my letter from natwest last week with 2 separate offers one for each of the loans Ive had with them
£2180 for the 2004 loan
£1220 for the 2006 loan
£3400 total
That included £840 of interest @ 8% of which they already subtracted 20% income tax
I signed both forms and posted them back that day I think it was last weds (02/05/12)
Yesterday (10/05/12) I had 2 separate payments one of £1083 and one for £1477 at first I was fuming as I could not fathom why they paid me less than the offer being at work I couldnt check the letter to see what was going on
But those where the pre interest figures I assumed the interest might come from a different department or something
Check my bank this morning and I had another payment for £840
So happy days between me n the mrs we got £5400 back together
and all we did is fill out a form and read money saving experts brilliant guide:T:T:T:T
