Debtfree_wannabe wrote: »Hi
not sure if this is right place but cant work out how to start new thread????
I have recently been lucky enough to get my ppi back on a Northern Rock loan (£8612.64 +£3658.58 interest) and also MBNA credit card (£1447.39 including £374.22 interest) I rang the tax office with debit card in hand, ready to pay the £800 ish Id worked it out to be and after 35 mins of holding on phone I spoke to someone who again kept putting me on hold to "check" things. Eventually she said I could only pay it by altering my tax code -today I got a letter from Tax office saying my tax code was now 407L as opposed to 810L and that I owe them £128.14 because Iv been paid already this year on my old tax code?
Can anyone help me please ,does this sound right? Id worked out I only owe £800 ish so surely that would mean I only paid around £66 extra tax a month or have I got it completely wrong???

Hi, thanks for the reply. It's for a credit card.
Sorry I could not be more help but CC redress is hard to work out.
Had it been a loan then I could have been more help.0 -
Do you know how long you paid this for? as I said they only go back 6 years with a CC, if it seems right to you for what you paid in PPI then it is right, if you paid more than this and have proof of PPI paid then get back to them and send copies of statements showing the other PPI..
Sorry I could not be more help but CC redress is hard to work out.
Had it been a loan then I could have been more help.
I think it probably is about right as I didn't use the card a great deal and I the amount quoted in premiums was around what I had estimated. Thanks again for getting back to me so quickly, I'm very grateful, and I can finally cash the cheque :beer:0 -
I wrote to GE Capital to reclaim PPI and recieved a letter back from Santander turning me down. Apparently "they had processes in place to say it wasn't compulsary". The PPI was for a computer I bought in Curry's in 1999, Santander only took over GE recently!! I'll be writing directly to Santander this time and settng them straight!0

Ok so kinda a success from lloyds and kinda NOT.
Called the dedicated ppi line around 20th march regarding a credit card account I have held since 2001, acknowledgement letter approx week later. Letter upholding complaint received on Fri 4th May for grand total of!...... £23.70! (unfortunately not a typo!)
it seems they have based this on the set of Duo cards (they send an amex and MasterCard one) first issued in March 2008 according to them. On my initial phone call l did indicate that I had had a credit card account with them since 2001 according to my credit report and I presumed this was all basically one account as I don't recall applying for a different credit card with them. According to their records I cancelled the ppi on this card in July 2008 hence the tiny redress (can't remember cancelling) - the letter did not outline when this had been calculated from and I had to call to get this info. so, fair enough if I cancelled it fine. They then tell me I have to make a separate claim for the card I had from 2001 with them even though I presumed they would take this into account - fair enough, but they aren't even able to find the account number despite me having the last 4 digits from my credit report. Have been in branch and called ppi department and standard credit card department whom have now sent an email to whomever to track down an account number that was still active up until 2008 but has now suddenly disappeared from the system!?
Has anyone else come across this issue with lloyds?? Really not sure what to do if they come back and say I have to supply the number, should I then complete a sar and see if it pops up in that information?
Hi
I have had exactly the same problem. I had A LLoyds credit card from 2003, in 2007 they swapped me over to the duo card.
I have successfully claimed back the ppi on the duo card( which was a small amount because I only had that card for a year) but they are saying they cannot find the details for the first card.
I can see this on my credit file, I can even see what my balance was, but after hours on the phone and 2 trips to the branch they cant seem to find it. I have now been told to write in to them so they can track this down for me. Letter posted two days ago, I have also put the details of my ppi complaint in there and asked them to forward this for me. Will let you know if anything comes of this.

Hi, Have recieved a final response today to a Barclaycard PPI misselling complaint I entered in December 2011.
"We have identified that your application for PPI was submitted by post. At the point of applying for PPI, as no advice was given the process required you to select the specific type of cover you required."
Barclaycard have confirmed cardholder protectiopn payments were made between 1995 and 2003 and have indicated that during their investigation they have accessed all relevant documentation to my complaint.
I would appreciate the forum's advice regarding the best way to proceed -- Issue a SAR to Barclaycard to confirm all transactions on the card and then send my complaint to FOS ? or
- Send my complaint to FOS staright away ?
Your help is appreciated.
Hi
I too had same reply off Barclaycard re postal application and got the same reply word for word. I sent a SAR and after waiting the full eight weeks only received cc statements going back to 2006, no application form was included. My card was opened in 2003 so this was no use as I had cancelled PPI before the statements started. It may be different for you but now going to FOS.0 -

This is interesting yes please do keep me posted. If I was a nasty suspicious sceptical person I would wonder if when we make that initial complaint some older records might not disappear just to make it that little bit harder! Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!0 -

You are welcome x and congrats on the win :T:T0 -
I got divorced recently and as a result bank accounts were closed etc. Over the last 20 years I had four bank loans and hearing that LTSB were now having to contact people for mis-selling I thought they would miss me out - account closed is an easy excuse.
So I wrote to them with my new details and giving details of my old account - no loan numbers but just asking to investigate. I got a reply with a complaint number.
I logged in to my online account today to see £1200 has been credited to me. PPI letter arrived also and they said that the age mean they could not investigate further but the average payout of £1200 seemed approrpiate.
I'm not taking further and happy to pay of a small part of a very large debt left over from the past - thanks Martin, team and forum contrinbutors for the motivation.
Two other PPI's being tested with LTSB and Halifax - little expected however!
