After our success with Halifax, my wife and I have since been offered settlements by M&S and Egg loan, together worth around £7,500. I'm appealing against a Top Man decision just because they were really snotty when I phoned to ask about it. Egg loan reckoned that the account was still active (it isn't - we paid it off) so knocked £250 off their figure, which I've now written to them to refund!

I'm waiting to hear about two loans my wife had with NatWest - she was told that she couldn't have the loan without PPI - so am quietly confident about that, and I'm interested to hear about some old Masterloans that date back to the dinosaurs.

All in all, for the sake of perhaps a day filling in forms and pulling together piles of original paperwork (I never throw any bank-related stuff away, so often had originals of documentation), it has been a most worthwhile exercise - especially since we paid off all our debts in the last year, so this is all our money, not a penny owed to anyone else! We're saving some and blowing the rest on a holiday.

Thanks to all the support from MSE folk - a lot of the stories on here inspired me to claim! I'll raise a glass to you when I am in sunnier climes this summer! :-)
;52227039]I received a letter from mbna today stating that they had looked at my complaint and when my card was transferred to them from abbey they issued a new t & c s and I was give the opportunity to see if my requirements were met and to cancel policy :(

however :jas a gesture of good will they have arranged to have a refund of the premiums and interest made as follows

ppi premiums £1934.43
associated interest £2639.20
8% £256.80
total due £4830.43

I am abs delighted and have sent off a letter to abbey/santander as they have responsibility from before transfer

thanks all for your help
Silly question, but whats the difference between associated interest and the 8% interest? On a couple of my offer letters from different banks I am pretty sure (not 100% as not at home atm) that I only have the 8% interest.

Also, should associated interest be applicable to both loans and credit cards?

Thanks
• hi i made a ppi claim through fscs for welcome finance, welcome phone me today to say that fscs won £3500 for us which was paid against the outstanding blance of the loan, this was done without my knowledge and i was told when i started the claim that the money would go into my account.

surely that money is mine can anyone offer any advise as welcome are saying that they will not give the money back

Hi everyone, great site loads of useful info which has led me to have success's with RBS and Halifax, one knock back from MBNA which is now with the FOS.

I have a couple of questions if I could trouble you all, i had a credit card with egg now Barclaycard, I've has 2 letters saying they would update me on my complaint by 3rd April, received it today, after 8 week, saying they were still investigating and I could go to the FOS if i wanted to

First question, does anyone know how long they might take for this

Second question, if I went to the FOS would it cancel the existing complaint with Barclaycard so therefore start all over again, or would Barclaycard still reach a conclusion.

Congrats to all the winners, good luck to all with claims in.

Claim - Halifax Total Mortgage Protection.

Reason for claim - I have life cover already and I'm eligible for sick pay and redundancy pay through my employer.

Process - Sent the PPI Consumer questionnaire with covering letter on 14th Feb. Halifax sent written acknowledgment on 17th Feb. Letter received today upholding complaint for £7,111 (All premiums paid plus interest at 8% gross)

Me :j

I've found this to be a really great site with fantastic advice and very encouraging stories. I'm sure I wouldn't have tried to claim if I hadn't read some of the posts on here, so I just want to say a huge thanks to all of you on this site who offer up your time freely to help others. It's genuinely appreciated.

Hello there

Just a suggestion, I note you said that the broker say they do not agree with the figures from the lender.
What you could do is write to the lender, ask them to send you a written detailed calculation of all the PPI you paid (if you have not already done this), and send to the broker and say "this is concrete evidence from the lender, and as the policy was agreed as mis sold, you have the right to be refunded the full amount shown on the calculation".
I would also ask them on why they do not agree and request they send you their own written calculated breakdown.

It is just a suggestion really but you are in the right to receive all you have paid of the PPI, plus the relevant interest, and as they upheld in your favour, they must calculate within the guidelines of the FOS.

Did they actually state the reason on why they do not agree with the lender's calculations?

They didnt state on the letter, but on the phone they said that they didnt agree with how the loan had been structured and the percentage we had paid each month towards the cost of the PPI was more than they would have done, so they will only pay out how they would have done it.
This seems really unfair to us, as we have a profile of what we paid, we have worked out what the loan would have been without PPI each month and this is the figures the lender has given for redress.
Its unfortunate that the broker is unhappy with how the lender structured the loan, but it still does not change the amount of money we spent towards a PPI that was misold:mad:

Hi Michelle

Do not give up, even if a final decision, they sometimes will review on any further info you give.

My feeling is, that because its a credit card (can be a little more difficult than that of loan ppi) in my opinion, the letter will probably say something like, for example "it would still cover you for life cover/hospitalisation and job solutions etc.
But with that - again in my opinion, it DOES/DID not protect fully which is unfair to be paying for something that does not fully protect (despite the fact of it protecting maybe the one thing).

If this applies to you, you need to tell them so and ask them to reconsider.
.;)
they have said that today to me about 3 loans, what do i do, please help di
