  • Do let us know how you get on.
I'd be putting aside quite some time for that call if I were you, it's likely to be swamped with callers and I suspect you may find yourself on "hold".
so i rang this number took 15 mins to get through to get some one who didnt have a clue what she was talking about :mad::mad::mad:
she said "i don't know why you got a letter saying 28 days everyone gets them but it takes longer then 28 days but i will logg that you have rang and get it recalulated but will take 2-3 weeks for payment .:mad::mad: i then refferd her to the website section 3 under ppi complaints in where it states if 28 days has passed then ring this number and they will endevour to make payment within 5 days she then said that her own website is lying that is not the case but i can make a sepprate comaplint about that if i wanted and would take another 8 weeks to resolve that comaplint ???

so you can imagine how shocked i am now sorry about spelling and stuff just so raging i couldn't even think whilst i was typing

1.You send a SAR letter for ALL details one bank has on file for you. You only need send another letter if you want details from another bank.

2.You can just take it to your local branch to forward on for you.

3.You can't request a SAR from the Ombudsman.

I actually called the HSBC and the lady on the phone was able to give me all the PPI policy numbers linked to my loan accounts and my credit card....shaved 2-3 weeks off the process:j

Yes, but we were talking about situations where people have closed accounts or re-paid loans over six years old.

With a SAR, Banks and lenders are required by law to provide any information they may hold.

Nothing about this post surprises me. The words "smoke" and "mirrors" come to mind.:(

    What were you reclaiming: Loan
    Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: Just over £5000 :D
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Sent in questionnaire and chase e-mail
And then write your brief reclaim tale

I took out a personal loan in 2007 to come off an existing managed loan and to buy a new car. I'd already been refused a loan 6 months previously so when I went into the branch I was advised I was more likely to be accepted if I took out PPI. Naturally needing a new car I felt I had no choice but to accept this.

I sent a questionnaire in by recorded delivery back on 6th April and sent a chase e-mail a fortnight later as I hadn't received any acknowledgement my claim had been received. A letter came through the post earlier this week advising it was being looked into, and I was expecting another month or so before hearing anything else. However, through my door today came an offer of full redress for PPI. They have used part of this to pay my final payment also honoured my repayment reward due at the end of this month. In total, I'm left with a little over £5000 after the final payment is taken off.

I really really can't stress how grateful I am to this site for helping me out. I've been meaning to reclaim for quite a few months but just thought it was too much hassle. I finally bit the bullet and sent the questionnaire in and now I'm £5k better off which will go some way to repaying some further debts and a nice holiday for myself and my partner. Acceptance letter was sent today and should be paid within 4 weeks (out of interest, anyone who has had HSBC successes before know how long it actually took for it to go in?)

The only downside is they didn't look at my old credit card or my previous personal loan automatically, but I guess beggars can't be choosers! I'll deal with those in due course I guess.

Only thing left to say is a HUGE thank you to every single person helping people out in this topic. You're all doing a fantastic job and without the advice and success stories I've read on here over the past few weeks I really wouldn't have done it!

As for anyone else thinking about reclaiming, just do it. £1.10 to send the questionnaire along with a bit of printer ink has resulted in me receiving £5,000 which would otherwise been sitting in the banker's pockets!

    Hi
Just wondered when you sent your claim as you have put 6th April and who did you email to chase it up ??

Here's your answer, the poster in question is talking about sending his claim on 6th March.

An incredibly fast turnaround on that one, then!

I sent my complaint in February and have received two letters from them; one a simple acknowledgement and the other an apology for continued delay.

    I doubt craiguk's E-Mail had any influence.

Go here for a SAR template letter which should provide the account numbers you require
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553

Then when you have the account numbers go here, but you don't need the terms and conditions as it says:

  • Hi all,

Wanted to say thanks for all the info and posts on this site.

Had a result today. Took out TMPP in 2001, paid £49 a month for 84 months before we paid off the mortgage.

Sent a form (from the Halifax site, not this one but they are pretty similar) 20th Feb 2012. Basis of complaint:-

    1) I get 6 months full pay, 6 months half pay for sick leave.

    2) We were told that we would not be given the mortgage if we didn't take out their TMPP product.

Got a holding letter on 23rd Feb 2012. I spoke to them on the phone today, they have agreed to pay out £3139 in compensation. This is less than we paid in in total, but someone posted a few days ago here, stating that Halifax will refund the PPI element (sick leave, redundancy) but not the life cover element. Given the amount offered, I'm assuming when the letter arrives, this will be the same principle.

£3,000 is a cracking result, especially as lots of people on this forum have stated that Mortgage PPI is rarely misold (although I couldn't find a single post about an actual refusal).

£3,000 equals cleared credit card, modest family holiday and a PS3! In your face, Halifax!
