That's what's iv'e been thinking, maybe they would have covered my partner pre 2003, therefore the Policy had some validation?
I'd still regard that as mis-sold, of course. Take this further.

    PPI claims.
Egg Loan, very easy to claim, followed advice on this website. Egg wrote straight back agreeing to my claim and within 2 weeks confirmed the full amount would be refunded to me with interest on the premiums plus 8%.
Barclays Bank Loan, again success, I have received a letter from the Bank confirming return of premiums paid, plus interest, plus the usual 8%.
A big thank you to the site.

I can only repeat my earlier advice to apply for a SAR. You'll then be able to see what the Bank has on file for you for at least the last six years, but sometimes more.
The Bank have upheld your complaint because it agrees you were mis-sold the policy. They are withholding any redress because they do not have evidence that you actually paid on the policy. They are putting the onus on you to provide some.
If you get no joy from the Sar/Bank, take it to the Ombudsman.

Cool - just a couple of silly questions to ask please.

    1) Am I able to request details for more than one account for the £10 fee? I would like to get the information for the Credit Card and for my Flexiloan as well?

    2) Is this just sent to HSBC head office?

    3) I take it if it is sent to HSBC, then the cheque is made payable to them obviously, if I sent it somewhere else like to the Financial Ombudsman then it would be made payable to them.

These may seem silly questions, but I have never heard of this SAR letter, so I am not sure if it just goes straight to the bank in question (HSBC) or another company that holds all financial records.

    Thanks

1.You send a SAR letter for ALL details one bank has on file for you. You only need send another letter if you want details from another bank.

2.You can just take it to your local branch to forward on for you.

3.You can't request a SAR from the Ombudsman.

Awesome, I know I have had loans from longer than 6 years ago, so that will help.

So I don't actually need to include any account numbers at all then on the letter?

HSBC have already paid me redress on my Flexiloan for anything after less than 6 years ago, but that Flexiloan was opened over 7 years ago, so will a SAR letter be what they need to get the PPI for that period checked out too?

Thanks again, I know these may seem trivial questions but I definitely want to chase this up in the proper manner, have very good success so far (£4,500 reclaimed so far from various banks, so am motivated to get the last bit back if I am owed any more).

    Thanks

Remember, the Bank's records may be incomplete for anything over six years. There are no guarantees for older loans and credit cards which are no longer active

OK - well even if they can't find anything for me it's worth a tenner I guess, thanks :-)

That's your call. Just don't expect a comprehensive run-down of everything you ever bought from them. It's not anything like a statement and it's likely to have unintelligible banking codes and acronyms as well.
