;51700627]Hi another newbie here :)

I have sent a questionaire off to MBNA as had a credit card with Abbey since early 1990s and then it was transferred to MBNA. I noticed that I had a payment protection cover on my statements and never really thought about ppi...how stupid is that lol

anyway I did not know what date it started as have no documents and believe me that is not like me I keep everything ...so contacted them and cancelled cover and was advised to send form and they would be able to tell.

Rang MBNA yesterday and they said it would be ten working days to I get a reply and that I had taken the cover out on 2001. As I was working in civil service then and covered for sickness for a year and had a pre exisiting medical condition I would never agreed to this so dont know how this cover started

sorry for being a bit long winded ....does this go too far back for them to consider a claim
Hi Jenny

Hopefully they will go as far back as 2001, they seem to have the details to confirm when you taken it out.

Fingers crossed.

Just sent off my barclay rejection to the ombudsman, how long is the ombudsman taking these days to look into complaints? Is it still say as long as a yr? :-(
Afraid so. The FOS is still inundated.

Hi there

It's difficult to predict on a timescale, but you should receive a confirmation by about 2 weeks to confirm they received your complaint, and they will let you know the details of when you should expect to hear from them next.

They will try resolving at an earlier stage if they can, in hope the bank agree to their decision, but the FOS should contact you every 2 months to keep you updated.

There should be further details directly on their website, of updates and ideas of how they deal with your complaint with an approximate timescale.
Hopefully it won't be too long.

However, if your suffering hardship, let them know, they may consider fast tracking.

Good luck.

Hi Ya, Yes i have the same information in my letter but on the next page its states they will send a cheque or pay it direct into my bank account. Im going to call them tomorrow just to confirm, I will let you know how i get on :):D

Seems like a good few of us had the same worded letter on Saturday, I would imagine it is just a "template" letter with the figures adjusted for each case.

I to have an active loan and has never been in arrears, I shall be speaking to them on Monday to make sure, although they have no right to pay your redress off your current loan if there are NO arrears and your redress is for a closed loan.

Its your money!! wait until 26th like me, then follow gringo's advice if you haven't been paid by that date.:j

Hi have you already started the claim with them?

If not then have a go yourself with free help from this site, it's only a matter of completing the questionnaire, as long as you have the account number and your reasons, go for it, complete the questionnaire - send to the ones responsible for selling it to you and keep copies.

Remember by not using a claims company you will get to keep all your refund and the FSA are on banks/businesses big time now, so it should not be difficult, and it may actually take longer to use a claims company.

It is actually recommended to do this yourself, and there is less paperwork involved, so if you have signed up with a claims company it maybe that it's early enough to cancel with them.

To check them out, you can also contact Claims regulations, details below:
http://www.justice.gov.uk/claims-regulation

Ask for help if required, good luck.

Are they asking you to pay them a percentage of the redress you won without their help?
Have you been in touch with them to inform them that you acted alone?
