  • Well, at least in the unlikely event that they do, it would mean you could concentrate your efforts on reducing your other debts.:)

yes in one respect but not if you have higher interest rates on other debts better to reduce them first i think.

thank you for your advice i will let you no how i get on:)
  • I was advised by Lloyds to query a number of loans and CC's at the end of November 2011.
To date, we have a successful, £23,000 refunded to us, that was for 4 loans and 2 credit cards dating back to sept 2000. We are still awaiting to hear from 2 loans.

Don't think the time of filling out forms and getting data is time consuming, it is worth it.

I have since helped both my brothers to put claims in. One has already received £2,500.

Thank you Martin lewis, couldnt of done it without your website and information.

    Hi all,
Phoned Lloyds TSB up in January to complain about 5 Loans (first of which was taken out in 1997 for £7.5k, then another a year later for £12k, then another a year letter for the sma eamount and last of which was taken out in 2000 for £15k.

Received a dodgy offer today for the first 3 Loans. In short, The letter says " As our final offer, we would like to offer you £3000 (and that is £1000 per loans - which is equal to our average compensatory payment).
Due to passage of time, we no longer have any detailed records relating to your loan account. The absence of detailed records means that even if we were able to assume the amount and the term of the loan based, for example, on your recollection, there is no gurantee our calculations would be accurate, as we haveno way of knowing when the loan was settled or if any claims have been paid under the policy."
They then ended the letter with the usual refer to FOS if you disagree with our final.
They have also asked if I have any documentation which I feel would increse the payment that I should receive, such as copies of statement showing commencement date and the date the loans were closed, i should let them know so they can consider the matter further.
They have said if I accept the offer, I do not need to do anything, biut if I do not, I should contact thm to reject it plus take the complaint to the Ombudsman.
    My issue are:
    1) I have records which I had printed out at a Branch for me showing commencent dates for the Loans, and since each Loan was taken to service the other, I can also say, when the preceding Loan account closed. I also remember approximately how much each Loan was for.
I have definitely never made any claim as I have never been out of work for the past 17years.
I am rather baffled that they do not have records to show even how much I took out, when and for how long. Considering, the refund includes interest at 8% per annum, £1000 for each of the Loans would look like they are refunding just about £600 per Loan, and I definitely paid a lot more than this.
My question is: If I hold out for more, are they likely to withdraw the offer?
If I take it to the FOS, what are my chances of getting more just based on my recollection.
I was planning to send a DSAR to them, but why would i send £10.00 to people who have said they do no longer have any detailed records....

Has anyone recieved a similar letter from Lloyds TSB? How did they approach it?

I will phone them next week to ask about the other 2 Loans they have not mentioned, plus the 2 Credit cards claims I also filed.

Is £1000 per Loan a fair settlement because they have lost their memory (and I haven't)?
As much as I believe I deserve a lot more compensation for the ppi, I wouldn't want the !!!!!!s to withdraw the £3000.

    Please advise. Thanks

I think with the CCCS they try and arrange to recude interest charges, have a chat with them and ask the question
