The banks have bombarded them with cases to create a backlog, it can take anything from 12 months to 24 months :(

I got a letter from the FOS today, they are saying that EGG are not going to settle and that they will be looking at my claim personally... Wish me luck.
  • As I am self-employed, I realised that the money I had been paying out everymonth for the last 10 years was for something that I did not really need. Using the templates on this website I have put in 5 separate claims. Within 4 weeks I heard from Barclaycard and have received a refund of £15,000. Today I received an offer (which I have accepted) from Tesco Bank regarding the credit card I have with them - the offer, which covers from 2003 until the present date is for £10,000 plus. :j
I had a card with Littlewoods Personal Finance, and they have said that they will not make any refund and also with Littlewoods Catalogue, who have also refused to accept that my claim is valid. I will be putting this forward to the Financial Ombudsman.
I am still waiting to hear about a second Barclaycard, and have been informed that this will be resolved by January 5th.
All in all this has been well worth the five 1st class stamps that it has cost me to make the claims.
I honestly thought this would be a lot harder than it has been, but I am so glad that I found this site and decided to put in the claims myself rather than go through one of the "specialist" companies who keep phoning me.
Thank you so much Martin for providing this valuable and informative site.
£11,500 so far is going to make my financial standing so much more secure, paving the way for a happy new year.
    :T
If anyone is wondering whether it is worth making a claim, I would say "go for it". You really have nothing to lose, and so much to gain.

    Wow,

Just got home and the wife had a letter from MBNA, opened it and it is a full and final settlement of just under £4k!!!

I am stunned, I hoped and hoped for this to happen and now it has I am worrying its not real!

All the refs and numbers check out though so wow EXCELLENT!!!

Now for the broken record bit, do MBNA pay the tax up front ? I have had no figures or breakdown and it doesnt say if it is gross or net.

Wanted to make sure of any tax element to save away before we paid some bills!!!

Thanks to everyone on this board and merry xmas!!

Just want to win a big one myself now lol.!!

A lot of people have been empowered by the support on this site...

Enjoy the holidays, congrats to the winners, and to those still waiting, when 2012 I hope for good news for you

  • Hi everyone-not been on in a while.Good to see thread still alive and kicking.
Update on my Clydesdale Bank Mastercard claim-has been with the Ombudsman for a few months.Got a call from an adjusicator on Thursday asking for a few more details and updating me on progress.Received a letter from her this morning, stating that they are not upholding my claim for a number of reasons.
Bit peeved but what can you do.Three claims with other financial institutions upheld by the institutions with no questions asked.Seems CB are just being really awkward about it all.
Anyway-Merry Chrimbo all and hope 2012 is good for you all.

    Well done Stundun :T
They should send you a breakdown letter, if you don't receive one by the time you get the payment, phone and ask them. Don't inform HMRC until you have the money in your account and like you say only if it is gross ;)

The tax paid is only on the 8% so you need the breakdown to give to the tax man.

After reading through numerous postings regarding PPI on this forum, I have now sent email requests to numerous credit cards and loan companies.

I had credit cards from MBNA, Halifax, Morgan Stanley, Mint & Barclaycard. Loans from Black Horse Finance, GE Capital and several other organisations. I have telephoned MBNA they said that I had PPI on their accounts.

I cannot recall exactly how much each commitment totalled, but I do know that Black Horse Finance loan was £45k, a couple of credit cards were just over £12k, because I stupidly maxed them out. I have been sorting them out over the last couple of years.

I was going to go to a claim firm, but decided to go it alone, as everyone said it was really easy.

I went on the WHICH website, and the emails have been sent this morning.

Just going to sit back and watch what happens.

If anyone has any advise, please let me know
