Hi , I have now thought to get on board with this . I started getting loans out from the age 18 when I got my car , wheels on the buy now pay later , then loans with the yorkshire bank , then AA loans , ive had numerous credit cards and racked up over 25k in loans ,so must be owed a lot from someone ?.
Do I do this alone or is it better to trust in a company to do it for me ?
How do I remember all the details/companies/loans/amounts/dates ? what if I havent got these to hand ? can I they be accessed off credit experian? (i used to be a member of) .
It's very easy once you get going, steer clear of claims companies!
Like you, I had a few loans and credit cards, long since paid off or closed and I had no idea where to start getting the details together. I started with the experian free trial which gives you dates, the address on the record (and for credit cards the credit limit too). I then wrote off to each one in turn, enclosing the £1 fee to get a copy of the credit agreement. Some refused as apparently they have no obligation to provide that if the account is settled/closed, so in those cases I’ve followed up with SAR request (£10 for a copy of all the information they hold on you).
I have to say though, some companies such as MBNA and Halifax just took my complaint and gave me the details I needed over the phone. I’d start by writing off to each company on your credit history then see what comes back. I started this in September and so far have had more than £2000 back and am still working on a few more.
Good luck!0 -
EXCELLENT. I shall make a start then if its not too bad , why give them my money eh !

Well, well, well.
Just opened the post and am slightly gobsmacked....
What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
Who was the provider: Egg
How much did you get back: £4,001.37
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: A long and arduous battle (nearly 2 years) with the FOS
And then write your brief reclaim tale: I was told that I wouldn't be able to top up my previous loan without PPI.
I am also expecting just over £6K from RBS in January.
I could not have done this without Di, Amersall and all the other lovely, supportive people on here. :heart2:
Wishing you all a Smashing Christmas and lots of luck with your claims.
I am going to buy myself something lovely later on :j0 -

You need to post this here.http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=187Anyone had experience of getting money off HSBC? my claim is on the basis of i was made to feel i would not get the mortgage if i didn't take out the two policies.
My polices were sold as..
HSBC Mortgage protection plan with critical illness cover. and
HSBC Essentail ability cover for individuals.
Bit of background got the mortgage in 2003 i went alone as my husband was self employed at the time and i was in full time work where i recieved full sick pay for 6 months if i fell ill. We have never missed a payment on the mortgage since 2003 to present day.
I downloaded the forms off the FSO website and sent the forms on 17/10/11 after receiving a few letters (last one being 13/12/11) basically saying due to large volumes there would be a delay in processing my claim.
Well today i have recived a letter basicaslly saying nothing owed back
.
The letter is saying i filled out a questionaire at the intial meeting with a financial planning manager for essentail cover and i didnt want to face financial difficulties so it was suitable for my needs. They also seem to be saying i received all the paperwork with had full explanation of how products worked and i was sent cancellation notices which was the time to raise concerns or to change my mind then not now.
It also says i have had the covers since 2003 and not had reason to make a claim but i should be happy because i was fully covered on all policies throughout .
The only reason i kept the policies is i thought i would not get the mortgage if i didnt take out the policies.
Where do i go from here?
Forget the claim.
Financial ombudsman.
or im thinking of getting a claim company involded.
Thanks...

I have to say a huge thank you for the advise on this website if I had not seen it I wouldn't have even thought about reclaiming.
What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: £7,550
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Following the step by step guide I contacted my bank and after one phone call they provided me with a copy of the loan agreement showing the breakdown of PPI & interest. I completed the questionnaire shown on this website and within a week had a response to advise my complaint was being investigated. I had another letter a few weeks later to advise it was still being looked in to, and then today I received a letter to advise I was getting the whole amount back plus interest. I was over the moon especially at this time of year so thank you for making me aware of the whole PPI scam :-)
And then write your brief reclaim tale: I was in full time employment with full sick pay and redundancy cover under, no circumstances did I require PPI however was advised the loan would not be successful unless I took it.
Thank you very much and hopefully I'll have the same success with Natwest :-)
Merry Christmas0
