    Hi all,

Does anyone know how long it has been taking Lloyds TSB to get back to you following initial claim ? Heard nothing in 10 weeks since contacting them.
Good luck and congrats to all those successful.

Heard from them in week 11.

Hi Idlehands, congratulations on the success :T As far as Sainsbury's/BOS are concerned I received my letter dated 14th Nov and received cheque on 2nd Dec. They don't appear to have the backlog of others so hopefully you are looking at next week ;)
    Successes
    Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid :)
    MBNA £3,600 Paid :)
  • Two weeks ago I received a letter from "Loans.co.uk" upholding my claim and have agreed to pay me back £8.5k just waiting for payment

Yesterday I received letter from MBNA confirming payment of £10.5k this was for a credit card I had from 2000 until 2007 with a limit of £12.4k which I had maxed out

These were both achieved by one letter and one completed form each no "middle man" involved

    Now waiting for 5 more

Thanks MSE for giving us the "tools" to take the big boy's on!

Looking at all these refunds, some of them very significant, it makes me wonder how these would relate to means tested benefits (council tax, housing benefit, JSA etc)?

A refund MAY be seen as savings whilst the interest is income (hence the 20% tax deduction). When people get a refund, would they have to declare it as savings (their money was saved at a bank)? Once the cheque is paid, people suddenly have a large balance in their account and some may also be on benefits.

In a way, a refund is savings that deposited to the bank (as PPI/charges) from disposable income. The bank saved this money and has returned it to you and paid interest, just like a normal savings account (other than the statutory interest rate).

This makes no difference to those in employment and not claiming any benefits.

I think it also doesn't apply to tax credits as that's not means tested but income related.

In that case they have to add further interest daily (it's not a lot) but yes chase them up and let us know how you get on please as I have a feeling I may have to do the same ;)
