11 weeks into 12 week deadline ( complaint made Sep 11 ) LTSB have come back with an offer of redress. £6346.45 :j. This is for 2 loans. First loan start date 22/8/02 and second loan start date 10/12/04. First loan was settled early 24/04/03 and second loan settled early 2/08/06,

I have found 2 letters referring to the early settlement if these loans. They are both from LTSB Insurance.

On the earlier one ( 2003 ) it says " We have recently been informed that you have repaid your Personal Loan. We have now cancelled your insurance policy and a refund of £2160.12 will shortly be credited to your account."

On the later one (2006 ) the letter says " We have recently been informed that you have repaid your Personal Loan and that your loan insurance rebate of £353.14 was used to reduce your total outstanding loan amount "

Amersall is this technically shouldnt they take that amount into consideration as well and it is not a rebate as I shouldnt have been paying it in the first place ???

I can understand and accept that any redress which I get now is used to reduce my current debts but I shouldnt have been paying that PPI anyways and shouldnt they take that amount into consideration as well please ?

12 weeks into a 16 week timeline. LTSB came back to me with an offer of redress on my 2 Business Loans - one paid off early and one of them still active. They are offering me £16500.00  of which I will get £11K and the rest will be used to "restructure my current loan".

I am particularly grateful to Di3004 :Awithout whose support and encouragement I would have given up at the first post !!! Thank you so much for your words of wisdom and fighting spirit. I can now plan to use this money to reduce my current debt overload ! :T
  • Now have two claims one for Barclaycard formally Morgan Stanley and one with MBNA. Both have been rejected so I have now sent them to the FOS. Have received a reply from FOS saying how busy they are and it could take up to 12 months. Has anybody had any recent reply's from them and how long has it taken?

Also can anyone give me some advice. I have a Barclays additions account with overdraft and have just received a letter saying they are charging me £22.00 for going over my overdraft limit. I have checked my account and it was all ok until they placed the interest charge on which took me over the limit. Can they do this or can I give them some grief over the phone?
  • can anyone tell me if they have had a payout from barclays loan,we have been waiting for 56 working days.

Hiya. No, not had a payout yet. Been waiting 45 working days but I did ring last week to be told they were 2-3 weeks behind schedule. By that reckoning you should have less than a week to wait.

Hi guys, I have successfully claimed back over £4000 on 2 claims and also claimed for my family and had further success there. I have a question though.....

I have recently received word from Santander saying they are going to uphold yet another of my claims, this time a credit card which has been in action for many years but they have said it may take 8 weeks.

My cunning plan is this.... since they have notified me they are upholding it and therefore admitted to misselling and admitting to OWING me funds I see no reason why I should not charge them interest for the next 8 weeks or however long it takes.

Furthermore, companies like Wonga who "legally" charge circa 1500% apr on short term loans can get away with it then why can't I?

I plan to write to Santander informing them of "my current" interest rate of circa 1500% (yet to be decided) and that they will be subject to this rate from the moment they receive my notice until they settle the debt.

In theory I see no lawful reason not to as it is perfectly reasonable for them to assume they will owe interest on ANY debt and it is up to me to set my rates... surely.

    ANY THOUGHTS?????

I understand your frustrations here but the crucial difference is that with Wonga and the likes they have entered into a contract with a borrower who has agreed to their extortionate interest rate whereas you have no such contract with Santander. You can't impose contract terms on them so I don't think you'll have any luck with that argument unfortunately.
  • At last i have been paid by halifax. Halifax one card. Had it since 2003. Claim went in mid may, upheld end of august, they received our acceptance on 3rd Sept and we received cheque today 24 nov. 12 wks to issue payment. Havent received calculations yet and feel cheque is a bit low but still pleased £1500!! thanks to di, amersall, cappo, And all the gang for your great advice and not forgetting marksman for making me laugh, u are all a hoot!!! Christmas is going to be fun now!! Also I decided to put one claim in at a time so now i need to search attic for more paperwork to see if i can find any more i may be owed!! Need to settle myself first though, the stress and frustration dealing with halifax will take some time to recover from!! Although i have to say £1500 for price of a stamp is fab!! Thanks everyone!!

  • Hi ! Decided to take the plunge...

I've just called one of the banks that I wish to claim PPI insurance from (loan over 12 years ago and closed)
I only have the loan number and the last letter which says it's all settled. They looked up the details and said that they were 90% certain I didn't have insurance as the button that says "with insurance" was blank??

I take it that if I send in the financial ombusmans template letter they will retrieve the paper records and not just take the advice from a button on a computer?

If the records are archived can they be retrieved?

    THanks :)

  • I sent a standard letter slightly edited to my own needs for reclaiming PPI to the Ulster Bank, I had no loan numbers or paperwork. 10 weeks later they sent me a letter telling me that I was getting a refund of over £2500 for PPI on my old loans.
In this time I have had calls, emails and messages from companies claiming to get back my PPI for 15-20% of my refund. That would have been £500 of MY money. Anyone who is stupid enough to use these vampires rather than simply sending a basic letter to their bank deserves to be fleeced.

Thank you goes to Ulster bank for an efficient and thoughtful process of reclaiming PPI. I always knew what stage I was at and they gave me various options to contact them if I had any queries.
