PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi friends,
Well, I feel as if a lot of you are friends. Although this is my first time posting, I've been lurking in the background a long time, reading the forums - mostly the funny threads. Awhile back, though, I started reading the PPI threads and decided to follow Martin's advice on claiming back my PPI which I genuinely felt had been missold. I'd previously tried (twice) to claim on it for long-term illness and twice they wriggled out of it on a technicality which I was not made aware of at the time of taking it out. Basically, I had an accident and hurt my lower back which incapacitated me for about 9 months. When I tried to claim on the insurance, they said that it wasn't covered as I'd previously had a strained muscle in my upper back/neck (whiplash about 6 years perviously following a car shunt)....this was only muscular - had all the tests at the time and it cleared up with some simple painkillers and a couple of weeks rest. However, when I hurt my lower back (had a slipped disc demonstrated on x-rays), they said "a back is a back".
Anyway, after reading the forum, I decided to lodge a claim for mis-selling. I followed Martin's claim plan and filled in the form, printed it out and sent it off to Barclaycard. I got 3 delaying letters - each time puting the response date further and further off.
Today, however, I just received their letter saying they upheld my complaint and making me a first and final offer of - wait for it - can hardly believe it myself - a whopping £62,784 !!!!!
So needless to say, I'm a very happy bunny today and wanted to say a HUGE thank you to Martin, his team, and all you helpful forum people.....you really are a great bunch of people and I just wanted to let you know, if you are thinking about it, or are waiting for a decision - don't give up hope.
Thanks again friends

:rotfl: Yesterday I received a cheque from egg for £52.41, a refund of CPR premiums paid plus interest (I cancelled it sharpish when I realised I had it, but they never refunded the payments made at the start of the agreement). It only took one letter! Hurrah! :T0

Then another set back - its 8 weeks today since we received the offer from First Plus and still no cheque!! The 8 weeks from them receiving the acceptance is up tomorrow and they promised me faithfully that I would have received it by then. I am now awaiting for them to ring me back as the girl who answered the phone is just taking numbers as they are "receiving lots of calls" just now and she said she doesnt know anything. So apparently I have to now wait for this call that will come within 24 hours of me ringing them - I went home at lunchtime too to see if it was there - it had better be here by tomorrow I need it to be clear by Monday!!!
Thinking of you this morning hun, I hope that cheque drops on your door mat today. I called firstplus on Monday as it has been a month that I have been waiting, I was assured the cheque will be with me no later than the 9th November. We will just have to wait and see.

My calcs letter did say that they would be recalculating the loan, and they said it would be within 21 days. It has been over that, but within 21 working days. My balance went down by just over £400, which I am hoping is in addition to the amount in my calcs letter ( wich was approx £6500)

Finally answered the phone to me this morning!
They told me that they are "a week or two behind payments" Shock horror, what a surprise! Wouldn’t give me a date or chase up for me, but said they'd pay interest for every day they are late in making the payment, which will be applied at time of sending me my redress. Has anyone else had this and can they confirm they do apply?
I gave the girl what for about the phone ringing constantly, apparently there's only thirty of them in the team and they are constantly answering the phone.0 -

And every time they answer the phone they are being stopped from working out the figures.
