  • I have recently had an offer from Barclays regarding a loan I am still paying. My current payment is £527 and is due to go down to £435 for whihc I am delighted, however I have found out that my October payment is going to be £543 due to the "re-scheduling" of my loan as aresult of my PPI calim. Has this happened to anyone else as I just don't think it seems right that I am paying more when they oen mw money?! They have advised that I will get the money back but given how long it is taking so far I'd rather not have to pay out extra and as apoint of principal I don't see why I should!

Any advice on this would be much appreciated :)

  • Spoke to FP on Friday, apparantly my cheques were sent out on the 15th (A week before last Friday)

I queried this with them and they advised that it can take up to 2 weeks for the cheques to be recieved by me - has anyone else been told this by them? Or is it another delay tactic?

    Thanks

I emailed the CEO of Barclays and yesterday received a call about the missing cheque. They said they had put a stop on it and were sending a new one yesterday, which should be with my today or Monday.

This morning received a cheque for £7322.46 - absolutely brilliant. The postmark on the enveloppe is yesterday, but the cheque and letter are both dated 9th September so I am not sure if this is the new cheque or the stopped one. Should I just pay it into the bank and wait and see?

I waited until lunchtime to see if any other cheque arrived and it didn't so phoned Barclays to try and ascertain if this was the new or stopped cheque.

What a waste of time. The lady who called me Friday and said to ring back seemed to be unknown to the person on the other end. She couldn't give me any info as "not enough about me on their system" and couldn't find out if the cheque number was that which had been stopped. She offered to get someone to call me but said that could take UP TO A WEEK. I said not to bother I would pay it in anyway and see what happens.

They really do take the p**s. So annoyed.
  • hi all.
Just to let you know of our success.
Lloyds TSB have paid us back the PPI on my husbands loan.
    Total amount refunded was £2,141.76

First contacted LLoyds TSB 15th September 2010, using Martins online forms. As we had not heard anything back by mid Nov, i sent a duplicate to the Financial Ombudsman. Agreement was reached about 3 weeks after high court ruling.
Lloyds/TSB told us it would be about 4 weeks before we received our repayment. I think it was just under that. Money was refunded straight into bank account. Fantastic

HBOS PPI on credit card not been quite as plain sailing. it followed same course to start with and looked to finish first with an offer back in January. Because their was not actual figure down on paper - just a lot of mumbo jumbo about how it would be calculated i refused the offer, asking them to put the actual offer figures on paper. That arrived on 28th April 2011. We sent our acceptance back on 10th May. That is where the good news stops.
Uptil now we still have not received the refund. FOS have written to tell us HBOS have agreed too. HBOS also upped the interest refund in line with the extra time taken to send it out to us. However, each time we contact HBOS to find out where our cheque is we are told they are writing cheque out now, will be with you in 5 days or its already in the post.
Called again on 8th Sept. Told yet again it will definitely be with you in 5 days. Today is 26th and not here. Called again and took nearly an hour to get through to be told the same with you in 5 days. Asked to speak to Manager told that there is nobody higher up who can help you......There is always someone higher up the chain of command. I got a bit narky as i could here hubby on phone to them unsurprisingly he would not hand me the phone over!
I contacted FOS again and explained what HBOS were doing, she was not impressed and agreed with me about the food chain. I have now left it with her to contact the people who sit at the top!

It is so strange though as HBOS offer was months before the high court abandonment, and HBOS were one of the first to pull out and announce they would refund the PPI's. Yet Lloyds TSB romped home in paying whilst HBOS are dragging their collective feet.
So score is Lloyds TSB 1 HBOS 0
Whenever HBOS pay - as they will, i will also have the satisfaction that we will have received all of the money for ourselves, none of it will have to go to one of these companies who prey on the vulnerable and offer to claim it back on your behalf.

Our very big thanks to Martin, without his forms and advise we would not have even known about PPI, let alone attempted to claim it back by ourselves.
I am going to go all gushy now, but i think the U.K. owe your moneysavingexpert advice some kind of recognition.
There are thousands of people out there who are willing to take your money at the drop of hat. Loads who offer you a get rich quick scheme.
There is only 1 who will freely give you advice on how to keep your head above water and to make the most of what you have.
    Thank you
