Hi...I think you are right as the tax return for self assessment was the advice given me by an accountant who is helping me set up my business....
I think this is right yes and if your business is set up when you receive your redress and if you have to pay tax then yes thats how you'd do it, if it's not been set up you'll have to pay tax on it as normal. Although who am I to argue with an accountant!!!:rotfl:It's just bankers we like to argue with on this forum:j:j
Thanks to all the competition posters.
• Hi All

Soooo happy just received my offer from First Plus ( Complaint up held) and its close to £7600, exactly what I thought, quite impressed considering how bad my maths is. Wanted to thank everyone on this site for all the help and extremely helpful advice, esp "Dizzy Di" and others that fought so long, who gave me the courage to do this in the first place. Who needs third parties that will take your cash!!!
Please anyone who is thinking of making a complaint do it now, you are not alone and have good cause.

:T:T Yippee another win over Firstplus that's what I like to see :rotfl:

Thank you...........thats a very helpful confirmation....dont suppose you are able to offer advice on my last comment of my original thread? (I do have one question for all forum users; I have PPI on my Next Storecard and when queried they state that they were not subject to FSA rules until late 2007 and that bthe Ombudsman has no power over them so basically told me to jog on!!! They also stated (rather rudely in my opinion) that I had a leaflet with my card when it was originally sent out in 1998 so it was effectively my decision to pay PPI! Any body had a successful claim with these people????)

Don't know about success's but you could contact the FSA and see when they became regulated with them, I believe most lenders became regulated from 2005.
Before the FSA I'm not sure who was regulator, may have been the FLA.
This is from the FSA guidance

3.10 Application: evidential provisions

3.10.1 E The evidential provisions in this appendix apply in relation to complaints about
sales that took place on or after 14 January 2005.
3.10.2 G For
complaints about sales that took place prior to 14 January 2005, a firm

should take account of the evidential provisions in this appendix as if they were

guidance.
3.10.3 E Contravention of an
evidential provision in this appendix may be relied upon as
tending to establish contravention of DISP 1.4.1R.

The important bit is in the red, there are other parts in the FSA guidance that may relate to your complaint also, but I would seek to find out if they were regulated at the time or not, so best to contact them directly, unless others can advise otherwise.:D
Thanks to all the competition posters.
• Had a lovely shock, the other day. I got a letter from Halifax saying they were going to pay me all the PPI charges and interest that is owed and i should sign the acceptance letter and they would send the monies back to me. When i worked it out i worked it out that i was going to get about £2000 but shock almighty i got a cheque for just over £4000. now the thing is what do i do with the money.
But most importantly a HUGE thanks goes to this site, as if it wasn't for this site, i wouldnt of known how to do it.
Thank you to everyone. If anyone needs any advice please feel free to inbox :j:j:j:D

• Hi,ive just sent reclaim letters to lloyds for 2 loans and a credit card that are over 6 years old,i have sent copies of the loan agreements showing the ppi boxes pre-ticked even though i declined ppi and have sent copies of credit card statements showing ppi payments on each statement which i was pressured into taking when i got the card. Are they obliged to consider the mis-sell as i have sent the proof even though they are over 6 years old.Any advice welcome and thanks to all. Well done to all winners to date:beer:

Hi All!

Had a letter today from firstplus (after only one letter to them) £6,500 being paid off the balance of our loan and £2500 being paid by cheque to us direct for the 8% interest - we already had the 'cashback' for the PPI which was part of the policy 3 years ago. We are very very happy! Our loan repayment also goes down £110 per month so in a few days we will ring them and ask what effect it will to the length of the loan if we keep our current payments.

Thanks Martin and everyone else for making this possible!! xxxxx
:jWell done on your win
Your loan term remains the same, you would have taken this loan over say 7 years without ppi,the loan reset just takes the ppi total off the balance,so you carry on to term end,but you do not pay extra for the ppi.
• Very pleased to report receipt of a cheque for £2700 from Halifax (Bank of Scotland) refund of PPI on a Loan. They did take it to the whole 16 weeks, but once I sent back my acceptance letter it was here a couple of weeks later. I just need to find a branch to deposit the cheque at!! Thanks to all on this site, which I have kept an eye on. Without it, I doubt I would have tried claiming. :j :T :j :rotfl:
