    FOS Here I come!!

Sorry to hear you are being messed about so much.

I have just rung the FOS. I put a claim into them 6 months ago (beginning of March) and other than a couple of generic letters have heard nothing.

It hasn't even been assigned to a caseworker yet. The lady said they are hoping the banks will start paying out en masse like Barclays, otherwise it could take a very long time.

    Hi,

Sorry for the late reply...have to fight to use the laptop in this house and I wouldn't mind but I'm the one trying to get our money back!!:)

I e-mailed [EMAIL="marc.bolland@marks-and-spencer.com"]marc.bolland@marks-and-spencer.com[/EMAIL] and got a reply a day or two later from a member of his personal team. She told me that as M&S Money are owned and operated by HSBC she couldn't actually do anything in reply to my concerns but would pass it in to the correct Customer Service Team and ask them to contact me. I did then ring the number she gave me a couple of times over the next couple of weeks but got no where and had just decided to give it another few days before e-mailing the same lady back again, when I received the paperwork in the post. Think this is the best way to go with this as the e-mail did say that as M&S Money is part of the M&S brand they are obviously concerned if something isn't done properly and it is discussed with them!

Hope that helps you get what you need....let me know how you get on,won't you?

The 16 weeks on my chargecard complaint isn't up until Oct.....I won't bare grudges and expect an apology, a goodwill gesture will do me to!:rotfl:

This is great, thank so much!!

I will do exactly as you did...I am really fed up with the sort of stalling and misleading and downright lying that the banks are going in for in all of this!!

Hope you get a nice little sum...then you can get yourself a little laptop and not have to fight for the computer anymore..:rotfl::rotfl:

    Thanks again,

    Citibird x
  • Hi there can anyone help us? About 8 weeks ago we sent a sar request to mint only for them to return it saying they had no account in my ohs name, we rang them to query this as the account was closed around 4 years ago I think now, we got the account number from credit expert and this is the only account we had with mint. Have ended up ringing creditexpert as mint are denying all knowledge and they have tried contacting mint but mint won't reply, the thing is creditexpert are not happy as mint have either deleted our account well before they should have, or they have given credit expert false information! Does anyone know where we can go from here? Were pretty much sure we had ppi on this account
But we just can get hold of anything!
    Thankyou

Is it worth using one of the PPI reclaim companies? The reason I ask is I have a few companies I would like to chase to see if I get any money but I really dont have time to do it. Also if these companies aren't worth it can you email the companies rather than writing letters (Dorothy Perkins and Wallis storecards and others)? Has anyone else applied to get PPI back from these companies?
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

  • Just to quick note to let you know that I used one of the templates on this site to try and reclaim PPI from the Halifax at the beginning of this year. Halifax wrote back within a couple of weeks saying that according to their files, they didn't owe me any money. However the RBS (who now own Halifax) also contacted me around the end of February saying that they would investigate my claim. It's been so long that we had forgotten all about it, but this week I've received a cheque for just under £4,000! Thank you Martin and the MSE team - for me it was worth the wait!

In most of us regulars, it isn't really worth using the CMC's, for the sake of spending a small amount of time filling out the FOS consumer questionnaire, it really is worth you're time and money to do this yourself, most of the cmc's will charge you around 25-30% of the full redress that you get awarded, if the company you complain against pays off your card balance for example, you still have to pay the cmc their share that you sign up to.
One regular managed to reclaim almost £20,000 and the cut to the cmc was about £5k, thats enough for a small car, I know the person involved didn't mind paying it out and it was a great result.

I believe there are certain circumstances that a cmc can be good for, example if you're going to have to go to court, there are others that have had experience of using them.

If you have a look over the questionnaire, familiarise yourself with it, complete it and keep a copy for your records, send it off and wait to hear from them, you should send it recorded signed for or special delivery just to ensure you can prove they receive it, depending on your lender they can even initiate the complaint on the phone.
I completed all my forms on word documents, saved it and used that one for my next complaint and so on, saving each one with a new file name. Then I printed them all off at the one time, attached copies of any documents I had in support of my claim, although not all of them had this, and then posted them all off with a covering letter, just a simple one.

If you need addresses or any assistance let us know we're all here to help, I'm off work this week and am devoting much of my day to answering as much as I can.

So unixgirl, assuming you work in pc's it should take you no time at all to script something up!:D

PS We charge 0% for our assistance, well almost 0% a thanks goes a long way for me:D
Thanks to all the competition posters.

OM goodness, never realised it was so complicated, maybe that's why some of them are taking so long. Don't envy the folk trying to work out the redress owed on some of these.!
Don't envy them Lynk, they're getting paid to do it, plus they'll have some sort of spreadsheet set up to use for calculations, I have one too, and I think niggly has something similar in place, although his might be for loans. Credit cards as mentioned are just so darn hard to work out.

I only take my guidance from the FSA handbook but it's getting the figures is probably hardest for most people, unless they have all their statements.:D
Thanks to all the competition posters.

Thank you, I would say the reason I was looking at these companies was laziness but its more like not enough hours in the day but I'd prefer the money in my pocket :o. What gave it away I work with computers ....:rotfl:

I'll take a look at the questionnaire. Is there anyone out there thats claimed from Dorothy Perkins or Wallis?
