Ok if your monthly payment was £25.90 and interest is 41.69p this makes the total ppi charge +interest to £26.31/2, okay? If this is added to the balance of your card, and not paid within your minimum monthly payment, then it is carried over on to your running balance, where next month your interest creeps up that little bit more.
So if the £26.31 is added to your balance you are then getting charged the 1.61% each month until the balance is paid off, and this repeats with every month that ppi is charged to your account.
But what they have to do when working it out is reapply the charge (25.90) to your account, along with any interest charged on this charge(25.90), when they re-apply this to your card, if your account goes into credit, ie they owe you money, you also get 8% interest on this.
This is how working out the credit card ppi redress is soooooo complicated!

OM goodness, never realised it was so complicated, maybe that's why some of them are taking so long. Don't envy the folk trying to work out the redress owed on some of these.!
  • hi all.

I got a letter back on my 16th week (a few weeks back) saying my claim was being upheld and i needed to sign letter and send back. No fifgures were attahced as they are going to work this out etc

Question - 16 weeks to tell me they are upholding my complaint but they didnt work out figures ! lame !! but how long do they now have to reply and re pay me monies owed, I thought the 16 weeks was the timeline or is that just to reply to say Yes or No to a complaint.

Is there anyhting written to say how long after they reply they will inform me of the figures and payment ?

Has anyone else had this with llloyds ?

Oh and yes I didnt get first letter either (as i see many of you rung up Lloyds to say where is my letter) think the post room forget to send out on the 19 / 20 !!

    Thanks

    Hi,
Got a rejection letter from Santander about misselling complaint I put in, store card was opened in 1993, when I was 19. The card limit was £240.
However due to the length of time thay say they can't find original documentation.
My complaint was the I didn't realise it was optional (I didn't really elaborate further, totally my fault and coupled with the fact they are not mind readers) although now I realise this has made it appear as if were asked about PPI which I definately wasn't. In hindsight I should have expanded ie that although I seen it on statement I thought this was complusary and that it came automatically with card. I got template letter from Which.
Because of my stupidity they have rejected on the following:-
Process they had in place was made clear that it was not compulsary and it was appears it was made clear to me and that I elected to take insurance.
policy summary etc sent out, 30 days to cool off and that this time would let me compare policies with other companies.
In relation to sales process there was no requirement for them to record sales process and so they have no way off knowing what took place, but if I had could have complained at that time if i was unhappy with sales process.
I just remember being asked in topshop if wanted to apply for a topshop budget card by a shop assistant(no longer in use)being asked the usual questions and then being asked to sign. I don't remember ticking/crossing any boxes, or being told any terms &conditions etc. Am I deluding myself that I have vailid complaint?
I sent away for my T&C and was sent a blank application form, it wasn't even the for the type of account I opened!
For a company who are stating they don't have any information, they are either lying or making a lot of presumptions!
Is there any way I can redress this?
    Hi There,
In process of trying to write a letter re above, but I have mummy brain (and the fact I have been night shift doesn't help)just now!
Can any one help me with regard to letter, as I made such a hash of the first one I'm not really good at articulating what I mean at times - so I'm really stuck as to what to write.

Any help would be gratefully received!!
    Thanks

I sent an email to David Chan attaching a copy of the statement I had found dated 2001. I've had a reply (within 2 hours) from a Cassandra Bailey in the Director's Office saying that she has forwarded my email and attachment to the relevant department marked Urgent. Things might be looking up.
  • Anyone with a PPI complaint in with HSBC and has not received a response ring them now on this number

    023 8072 3838 Regulated Sales Complaints Team

Both my husband and I have rang today, separately, for separate claims and have been told......

"We are dealing with it, you should receive a letter by the end of next week????"

    NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

On pushing them further for a response it transpired that they have not even looked at our complaints yet?

Letters sent 1st class recorded, signed for etc, etc, etc on 9th May, received by HSBC 10th May (confirmed by Royal Mail..............I enquired as it cost me over £25 to post them all!!!), not opened by HSBC until 18th May, actually acknowledged on 16th June.

By rights 16 weeks should have been up on 31st August called on that day and "apparently" the letters were not received until 18th May, I argued the point but agreed to give them the extra 8 days, culminating on 7th September
    TODAY!!

On calling them, we were both initially "fobbed off" but after challenging them and finding out that it has not even been looked into, I was very angry.
When I asked to speak to a manager, I heard an "oh !!!!" in the background. The manager tried to work out the 16 week time scale 3 times and worked it out to today, all three times (I could hear the sense of impending fear in his voice!!! ;);)) On asking, rather sarcasticly, "Am I going to recieve a hand delivered letter this afternoon?/...... He replied "No", duly apologised and said it would be sorted...........NOT GOOD ENOUGH, HSBC.............NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!

Quoted some FSA Guidelines to him and he agreed that I am well within my rights to go the the FOS and said we would receive a response by the end of the week??? Likely?, I think not!

I also asked for a recording of this telephone conversation, (as they stated it would be at the beginning of the call) to back up my complaint!!

    Sounded very panicked!!

16 weeks and they still can't get it right...............ITS PATHETIC!!

    FOS Here I come!!

I maybe a very small fish in a very big sea but judging by the response of the HSBC RSC Manager I am not the only small fish!!
I think it will be "Fines a plenty" at HSBC when the FSA get to hear about how may people they have neglected to contact!!

    Get ringing peeps!!
  • Just had a letter back from MBNA (Just over two weeks after I sent them my MSE form saying they will be crediting my account with more than £4,800. :j
Half of the money was repayment of the money I have paid over the years and the other half was interest!
It is such a huge relief off my debt ridden shoulders! THANK YOU MSE!! :money: I used the form on this site to do it all and even though I am horrendous when it comes to understanding money and figures and maths  even I managed to get a result by using your form etc! :T
I would strongly advise MBNA card holders that took out a PPI to reclaim it! it is definitely worth the half an hour I spent filling out the form and getting the correct bits of paper together!
  • Rang Barclays today as not heard anything. Now told that if claim had gone to FOS, they would not have been dealt with by 31st August. I said that FOS had sent me a letter in June saying Barclays would now settle direct with me and when I rang on 26th August was told that I would hear by 31st. Evidently they dealt with all relevant claims and are now dealing with those that were with FOS.
    Just a waiting game.
