    Hi
I received my ppi all back plus interest last week, Barclays. I am cross with myself for using a claiming company, as they want 30% + vat for putting stamps on envelopes! Also there is tax to pay on the interest that I got back, do i pay claiming company percentage after tax, also i never received any terms and conditions from them and they failed to inform me that VAT was on top of their fees, it almost leaves me with half of what I claimed. They even had the cheek to ask if I wanted to pay over the phone when they rang to say I'd been successful. I didn't!

Do you mind me asking when you first complained against Barclays. I have a letter dated June 2010 in which they were still dealing with my complaint and I still haven't heard anything!

Hi, I feel really sorry for you. It so easy to go down the claiming company route...I almost did it myself. Its a bit of a double edged sword to know you've got what was due to you but had to pay a large proportion of it to someone else. I know nothing about these companies but did hear that someone on one of these forums negiotiated their fees down. Maybe you should try this first.
    kind regards
  • ive got a claim with hsbc its already with the fos and i was meant to have a final response by 31st august but still waiting

Hi, I first complain about october last year, I think it was so long ago, I know they kept saying they had no record of my loan with them, even though I'd sent letters from them, in the end i sent copies of yearly statements! I complained because I hadn't even asked for ppi it was just added to the loan. And when i wanted to make a claim because of accident it was refused.
  • Hi All

First of all I’d like to say congratulations to all those who have been successful in claiming their money back so far and good luck to those who are still waiting.

I’m also wondering if someone could be kind enough to have a look through my details and see how much I might be entitled to (if anything)

On 25th March 2003 I went into my local branch of Lloyds TSB and got myself an unsecured loan to clear off some existing debts (loan and credit cards) and also to get some cash for some home improvements.

Until recently I was unaware that I even had the loan protection, it was only the fact that I’d received a phone call from a company claiming I may have been miss-sold the ppi that I decided to look into it a bit further.

So I followed the instructions on this website, and I got my loan agreement sent to me from the bank and lo and behold, there is a pre-ticked box agreeing to the ‘optional loan protection’.

I’m pretty certain that there was no mention of this being optional because I’d have refused it at the time, and saved myself an extra £50 each month.

Anyway, here are the details of the loan

    Cash loan to you: £10228.00
    Monthly repayment: £227.54
    Optional Loan Protection: £2470.13
    Monthly repayment: £55.25
Loan for repayment of existing debts: £712.33
    Monthly repayment: £17.13
    Total Loan: £13410.46
    Monthly repayment: £299.92
    Annual Percentage Rate: 12.9%

The duration of the loan was for 60 months, and I made my last payment on 1st Feb 2008. I took two payment holidays during the course of the loan, and paid it off 2 or 3 months early.

    Thanks
  • Evening all,

Well done to all who have had wins recently. I have sent EGG a email asking that they reconsider their decision and copied in the CEO. So fingers crossed. I already have the form for FOS to be sent as i dont suppose they will change their minds but you never know.

    Regards
    K

This wont be precise but should be close enough as Ball park

    60 x 55.25 = £3315
    8% on premium £1580.15

    Cheers N:beer:

Congrats all on recent wins. They seem to be rolling in!

I received an offer today for my old Direct Line credit card, with RBS. Initial claim logged 16th May.

For reference, the figures seem ok, they have included compound interest on the PPI premiums, plus 8% interest minus tax, total £1800.

I have one Q I'd be grateful for any advice on:

In the letter they state that any refund on a closed card, such as this, will be paid towards any 'arrears or indebtedness you may have within the Group' - I have arrears I am paying off on a Natwest loan - are they within their rights to apply this refund to that loan? I could understand if it was a refund on the loan PPI, but this is a separate card, and therefore surely up to me where I choose to repay the funds? I apologise as I believe this question has been asked before but my search on the threads couldn't locate the previous answers!

Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to bump this and ask again - but if anyone can shed some light on my Q above, I would be most grateful. Thanks.
